a year of fazer fun...
« on: 31 October 2014, 07:06:13 pm »
just realised that it was a year today that my lovely  :faz  was delivered from the shop i brought it off in Cardiff
it was bog standard apart from the rear hugger and the rack,it was meant to be a all year ride to work bike to get me back into the groove of biking again, but 2 things happened to change those plans......

firstly, the gales and floods hit and i discovered this bloody forum !!  :lol  ( best thing to happen to a new fazer owner who's been 'off scene' for about 9 years )

so,as a direct link to advice/tips/adverts on here,ive

changed all the brake lines to braided hoses
changed the exhaust to a lush sounding Boewulf can
K&N air filter/oil filter
double bubble dark screen
had the seat re done/upholstered
upgraded the rear brake caliper/torque arm
oil/coolant/brake fluid  changed
changed the front sprocket nut
ordered the r6 shock upgrade from kebab19 (due soon)

plans for next year, fit the shock, set it up for me,change the front fork oil and use it more often,im already planning my 9 day holiday from somerset to northumberland, scotland and the lake district in september !!

so,thanks for all the advice/tips/patience/sarcasm,roll on next spring  :thumbup
put 3.5k on the clock

They really are great bikes. I don't see me ever selling mine.

I'm considering this R6 shock upgrade. Looks like a good option.

There is nothing "bog" about a standard FZS600  ;)
When you think about it there is nothing that can be done to inprove it unless you are very short or very long or very fat (large framed), all that we do are cosmetic things mostly

Good to hear you're still happy with it mate as that is of course half the battle in the biking world regardless of the rest. (Dont i know :\ ).

Keep up the good work and keep getting out & keep racking up miles.

Most folk when they pass their car test think that they'll just go out for a drive for the sake of it...when they're 18

But i think only bikers understand keeping that spirit alive beyond the age of 20 8)

great bike as standard when new i imagine, but after 13 years and who knows what history on my fazer,id say braided lines, new, better oil, fresh coolant/brake fluid, and a new, better rear shock with the hugger to keep it better protected from the wet/grime off the rear wheel are more than cosmetic wouldnt you?

its all the bike i need at the moment,so im getting her to my liking as i plan to keep her for the forseeable  :thumbup

now,if i got the wheels painted the yellow that i would like to,THAT would be cosmetic !!  :lol

i went out last sunday 'for a couple of hours' and was out for 5 hours / 201 miles, i just love it noggy, and i know you know the feeling,i just have the single man freedom to do it !!  :) / :(
plus, i love having no debt to the bike,so when it sits there for days/weeks on end,its not the 'dead money' feeling i used to get with my old bikes i had on loans etc.
i need to get the front fender plastic welded and resprayed,as when the bike fell off the main stand last summer and somehow cracked the fender, the crack is getting more obvious so im guessing it needs looking at,i'll whip it off after my planned bimble this sunday.oh,and replace the clutch lever that got 'shortened' in the same incident  :wall

hope your well mate  :thumbup

yes it is,i phoned him on a tuesday to arrange to have my seat done by him,and he'd recently finished doing one,so i met him the next day at weston bike night and got it off him there and then  8)

good quality workmanship and did 200 miles last sunday with only one 15 minute stop and never even thought about having a sore bum so im assuming the better padding is doing its job.plus the higher 'bumstop' of the raised pillion seat is a nice idea.
