I may be stating the obvious here, but this is a trick used by a lot of shops on Ebay. basically, the claim to have more stock than they actually have, then put the price upto an absurd amount when they are out of stock and waiting more coming in. it saves them paying for more than one listing if they do it this way ;)

Some people put things on ebay that are pick up only and say that it's on gumtree a bit cheaper, then sell it on gumtree, no fee, then increase the ebay price so no one bids on it, so I've been told?
