Man Cave / Bike Stuff Cupboard Design Help, Ideas welcome :)

I am known for doing diy then captain hindsight coming along and undoing all my good work.

so.

Can anyone share some ideas or designs for the man cave for our motorbike kit.

Needs to accomadate about 4 lids, 3 sets of boots, 2 sets of leaths and 2 sets of textiles each on their own hanger so a small clothes rail perhaps? usual stuff, visors, gloves, thermal liners etc, and if possible some floor space for tool boxes.

Is it on an outside wall so you can vent it?
Can you plumb a small rad in?

No outside wall --- so put in a vent top and bott of door (or just leave it ajar) when damp kit.
Have a look at Ikea as they have lots of good storage ideas -stuff
Im thinking mesh racks to let the air flow

If no outside wall then a good shout on door vents.


Bathroom anti-mould paint would help aswell when you hang up the damp gear.


Another good shout on mesh type shelving for when you throw damp gloves etc on - or a small 6 way coat hanger to slip the gloves over.

For drying wet gear I would think about a dehumidifier, the damp is captured rather than take around the house by the warm area, it will then condensate on the first cool surface it reaches.

If youre putting up a hanging rail, instead of hanging it across the center of the room, hang one rail about 2 inches away from each of the 3 walls, that way you can hang 2 jackets etc flat along each wall and still have space in the middle of the room.
   Ladder hooks (2 for £1 in poundland) with a tennis ball on the end are great for hanging helmets on.

Can you plumb a small rad in?

If you're drying leathers and leather gloves, you don't want a radiator in there, it's liable to cause the surface of the leather to dry too quickly, crack and lose all waterproofing.

Better would maybe to put in an extractor fan at the top and a vent at the bottom of the door to draw air in and let it flow over the wet gear provided there's enough space to allow a free flow.

ADDENDUM: Ah, just seen there's no outside wall, in which case the dehumidifier would probably be best.
