The yellow bike with Danmoto can and Akra sticker looks like the one my friend had in my garage here in Spain a few years ago.
The paint job is a Dream Machine one done on a handful of 2001 Fazers in order to shift them from the showrooms. The original Fazer prices were too high, only a few hundred short of an R1 new.
The bike had been crashed at some stage before he got it. There was a small dent in the tank where the bars hit it and damage to the fairing, hidden by non-standard Fazer stickers which look like those on the ad photos. See the small Yamaha tuning fork sticker in the middle of the tank? That's where the dent is! I have photos that show the rear mudguard cut down exactly the same as the ad, so I'm pretty sure it's the same bike.
Most telling - and not something that most would notice - is the front left engine mount was mis-aligned in the rubber mounting in the frame cradle. It didn't seem to affect the way the bike rode but look closely at the motor from the front and you'll see what I mean. The crankcase casting is fine, it's the part of the frame with the rubber bush in it that's twisted slightly.
The bike was Full Monty'ed by me and I also fitted the Pazzo levers for him.
My advice is to consider it but don't pay more than £1800 for this one. Point out that you know some of its history, particularly the crash-damaged frame, and use that to haggle hard.
