I use semi synthetic, any brand as long as it is for motorcycles.

Semi.

Fully may give you clutch slip.

I'm using fully synth (Castrol Power 1) at the moment. Runs very nice. No clutch slip.

I don't think the engine really needs fully, I think Yamaha recommend semi and that's what I've mainly used in both of mine. Not sure what that really proves though as I've only got about 30ish on the clock. Ask someone with 90k what they used!

I've just had a look at FZ1Girls maintenance log she did make the switch to fully synthetic but not until 175,029 miles. I'm not sure why she made the switch, I've read that switching on a high mileage bike may not be a good idea as the cleaning agents can lead to any carbon deposits built up over time breaking free and causing issues with blocked oilways and filters.

For me I'll stick with the manufacturers recommended semi-synthetic, I change both the oil and filter every 4,000 miles and I'm pretty confident that this will see me through the lifetime of the bike.

Groundnut oil for Indian and Chinese, olive oil for Italian and some French, sunflower oil for everything else  ;)

Oh, you mean..... :o

Nah, happy to use a good quality semi synthetic. Almost went to fully at one point, but never had any oil related problems, so I just stick with Silkolene semi.
