Anyone fitted hand guards to a boxeye?
« on: 24 July 2014, 10:43:05 am »
Hiya fellas,

Again as per title.

Looking to winterise my Fazer and whilst the heated grips can be done I know from riding the Tiger (which may be outed soon) that the hand guards are a substantial help when very cold.

If anyone has fiited some then it would be great if you could post a pic with a few details of the guards and if fitting was ok....I fully appreciate that the full lock may be affected.

Before anyone jumps in - tried muffs and hate them..... nad guards are the future  :lol

Cheers in advance  :thumbup

Someone on here has done it before but had to move the fairing forwards to do so.
No chance on my bike without doing something like that, my levers are very close on full lock.

doubt there would be enough room to fit them without modification as said above, the fairing is close enough, on full lock with my armored gloves my knuckles touch the fairing.

I actually bought some hand guards without really checking. Not a chance without modding the fairing so a
good job they were cheap!

I did look into it ages ago but to be truthful i wasn't keen on the look of the fairing moved forwards, it made the front end look a bit strange.
It's a shame because guards would be really helpful in winter just to keep the cold air off the hands.  :\

Cheers for the replies fellas.

Got to agree, I don't fancy moving the whole bloody fairing around - didn't think about that to be honest, just thought I'd lose some lock.

Leaves me with keeping the Tiger which through age and use is starting to need a fair bit of TLC orrrrrrrr changing it to something else. Got some thinking to do 'cos the Fazer is a far better London traffic buster.

I belive there is somone on here who has done it without moving the fairing, instead you cut the guards and they still touch but they bend ??? not sure. I think that it was v storm guards that are a fit for ours. I was looking into this myself and by the time I looked into it in detail the winter was over. I still want to do it so I can pop them on for the few winter months.
Im not looking for complete protection but just enough to add an extra 1/2 hour to my ride before I start grabbing the loverly hot potatos that are the cam covers.

I would imagine if they make contact it would be an MOT fail.
