With the gloriously hot summer weather on its way lol you may be tempted to nip down the shops in yer speedos

I've  toured Italy, Spain and Morocco in the past few years and its always tempting
to ride without leathers I think seeing what can happen to you
makes sweating the odd gallon or two well worth it  :D

LiveLeak Video

that should work ^^.

God,

just read the bottom link, thats a pretty harrowing account, and reminds me of the state of my leg when I had my big off sans protection. Nowhere near as bad as that of course, but I still get problems with my knee 13 years later.

That is nasty. I think people that accept that they might come off without gear just think "meh, it'll heal"

Minimum for me is jeans boots jacket gloves lid if I'm going to the shops and add leather or textile bike pants for out of town. I see youngsters and some old enough to know better in t shirt and no gloves but that's not for me.

Each to their own.

Personally I wear it, but wouldn't tell others too, biking is all about the freedom to choose.

Jesus, that last link is pretty harrowing.  Poor lass and her mate Shaun is a total dick splash.

I see no end of dickheads on massive choppers here in Hamburg that just ride around in shorts, vest and boots. No gloves and usually one of those stupid little piss-pot things.

It's madness.

Amazing account and very braze to get back on a bike after that sort of experience...

All I can say, and mirror, is ATGATT - All The Gear, All The Time - and no one will ever get on the back of my bike without full gear either.

Naw, can't be bothered with the gear police.
If I wanna pop down tae the shops in warm weather it's jeans and a t-shirt.  Pisses me off I even have to put a hat on.  If there wasn't a helmet law I wouldn't bother.

I used to come down the hills round here at 50mph or more dressed in lycra with a wee bit o polystyrene strapped tae ma heid.  That's far more dangerous than dodling along tae the shops on the thou.

If I'm off out somewhere and it's really warm I might just wear ordinary jeans, boots, gloves and hat.  I'm not gonna wear stuff that's gonna make me uncomfortable on the bike.

But hey most of the time I'm head tae toe in good quality leather.  It's each to their own.

And of course, keep it upright, fingers crossed touch wood and all that.

Usually lid, jacket, gloves, some sort of footwear for me. Unless  I'm wrecked, then I might go naked but for a pair of carpet slippers  ;)

My mate is touring now,in Portugal, its high thirties , he only has leathers, he is slimey when he stops :lol , he's a big fatty too which don't help, going by his photo's he's staying with the leathers, they have to strip straight away when they stop,

I would of taken my loose fitting Kevlar-cotton jeans i think.

My hot weather gear is what I have on at the time and a crash helmet. I have never owned a one piece leather gimp suit. I do have a heavy jacket and trousers with armour for winter riding mostly to keep warm. :lol   but each to their own.
