« on: 24 May 2014, 11:30:40 am »
Hi guys, noticed this morning I seem to have lifted the rim of my rear wheel. Would this be an mot fail or do.you guys think it would be ok as it is?

Should be ok as long as the tyre seals

I'd look to replace the wheel. You never know when that tyres gonna deflate.

You're worried about an MOT? I'd be more concerned for my life.
That looks pretty bad and if/when it deflates it'll do it when the tyre's under stress as you're cornering.

I should clarify my answer - I was referring to MOT.
I wouldn't want to ride on it though

It is repairable by any good alloy wheel repair specialist for around £50

£50 buys a replacement. That amount of deformation is a scrapper. How the fuck though? Spares are easy to come by, I have a pair in the garage.

I have seen worse repaired, but if you can give him a wheel in good condition for £50 or less it is a no brainer

Better change it, Never know what damage has been done to the structure of the wheels itself, could easily have a massive crack waiting to open up and spit you off.

Be safe.

Three or four on ebay at the moment at around the £50 - £60 price. Not worth the risk at all.
