So yet to change rear pads as I thought I'd remove shock and offer up the thou shock I now have.  Bottom bracket removed and shock finally between frame and swing arm I lift shock up to top bracket. 
Now I know some frame has to be cut, just not sure where, thus my reason for this exercise. But what I found is it seems the water tank is in the way aswell and this hasn't been mentioned.
Am I missing something?

Not sure which thread you was reading but the coolant overflow tank you are talking about has to be unbolted and pushed forward - I used cable ties to secure it.
When you offer up the shock you should be able to see where it rubs against the flat parts,of the upper mount, grind these down!

I managed to move the tank back and bolt it up... You will see where you need to grind once this is done... But you will need to change the spring over as the thou spring is the wrong rating.. But it makes a hell of difference using the thou dampner.. The back end feels so much tighter!! :)

I've recently fitted the Thou shock with 600 spring and it feels really smooth compared to standard. Still feels a bit bouncy though.
Can anyone recommend compression and rebound adjustment settings?

Mine were at full and felt like it needed more, still better than standard shock but not completely up to the job in my opinion!
