Engine Paint
« on: 01 May 2014, 09:56:13 am »
Hi to all, got a problem with he engine paint in the fact that it is starting to flake off.  The bike is a 2002 model with silver engine.  My question is there a make of paint out there that is a good colour match in aerosol form ie from Halfords.

Got the same problem with my 54 plate fazer and it's black engine. Can you just spray this paint on directly or do you need to do some sort of prep work?

I gave mine a good clean with engine cleaner , removed the loose flaking paint , wet and dry paper, then left it a couple of days , plenty of masking tape and paper , then sprayed several thin coats , no need for primer .

I gotta couple of stone chips and the previous owners scuffs on the genny cover - anyone know of a near/good match for the so called "black" engine and frame finish (04 model), which is more of a dark grey metallic - I'm thinking a Holts/Halfords touch up paint??
