New brake lines
« on: 19 April 2014, 10:15:10 am »
Hi Foccers,

as my Gen1 is approaching middle age with nearly 50k on the clock I thought it is time to replace the old brake lines with som nice new braided ones. Just wondering if there is any one make to go for (or avoid) and if anybody has the lengths to hand from when they did theirs?

Cheers, paul

Wise move!  Look up Hel brake hoses thread-there is a discount available to forum members quoting a code ref. Hel will have the dimensions on file. Most go for a 2 line (Race) set up where both hoses run from master cylinder one to each calliper thereby getting rid of the hose "splitter" mounted on front of lower yoke. Change your brake fluid(obviously). When were the callipers last overhauled? Now would be a good time to do them while system "dry"

Thanks for the usual swift replies! It's been a busy morning on the forum, I've sorted out the brake lines and carbon fiber coatings for the frame covers and radiator ends. The old girl needs a bit of TLC as she approaches 50!
