Hey fellow foccers!

Just looking a bit of feed back from anyone who's upgraded their front forks, if its worth it and what springs to change to?

Also I've seen a thread on changing the rear shock out for a r6 one on fazer thous, is it an easy and worth while upgrade to do to do on a fzs600?

Plenty of info on here if you do a search, but a cheap alternative is to use a heavier 15w oil instead of the standard 10w, it really firms up the front end and makes it feel much more predictable.

+1 for the 15w. It makes the bike more stable in the bends and has better feel. Buy good oil and make sure your tyre pressures are good too.

I changed out my rear shock for this - http://www.fgspecialparts.it/en/product.asp?maker=FG&model=YAMAHA+FZS+600+FAZER&year=2000

I got the one at the top. It makes a huge difference. I can not say if the R6 one is good from my experience, but plenty people on here reckon so. I just helped my mate fit a GSX-R 750 shock to his SV650 yesterday, and it worked a treat.

15w oil it is then! I'll try that first and see how I get on as it's always been a bit wishy washy on the front... this is what I love about this forum, even though the question has been asked a million times people are still more than willing to answer it  :)  thanks guys!

Just be careful to put the right amount of oil in, the manual will also show levels for '98/'99 forks (as well as '00/'03) which need more oil because they don't have the adjusters at the top.  ;)

If you can get hold of them the hyperpro spring kit was best upgrade I made to my 600. Was so impressed I fitted hyperpro's to my thou and again impressed for the money.

it's cheap, comes with the oil. and in truth would benefit having rear shock spring done as well.
they are progressive spring but they work better in the real world in my experience.

Linear and Progressive argument will continue forever but for me progressive is king. We do not drive on silky smooth race tracks and I like the ability to adjust it at a whim. for pillion and luggage etc.

Check the spring size. Anythng with the same diam and length +- a few mm will do, find some stock springs off another bike. I got some .95 linear ones for my r1 forks for a tenner off a 675 daytona. Gsxr 750 ones also fit those. There will be loads of options and they are a few quid

Thanks to Kebab's article I used Cbr 600 springs off ebay for my 600 front end mod. Made a noticeable difference. Needed to adjust the spacer length but not a big job. Kebab's post on Emulators  has some good tips and links.
 Thanks again Kebab :)

Oh, very interesting, that definitely sounds like it's worth looking into as aftermarket ones can be a bit pricy... Thanks guys, now to trawl eBay!
