I spent a weekend in Sintra a few years back.  It was nice.  For a weekend why would you go all the way to Gibralter?  Stop and enjoy Portugal.  The food was really good where we went.

I agree why would you want to go to Gibraltar, it is a shithole of a place , one can only soak up so much history. Stay in Portugal lovely country and lovely people, not just a bunch of winching Brits that you will meet on the ROCK, 2 hours and you have seen the lot.

I liked Gibralter!  But then I was fresh off the boat from Morrocco after two weeks touring around there.  Now that is a shithole!  An interesting shithole though :)

Never rented a bike there , but worked in Lisbon and Cascais in the late 90's , and have been on holiday there since then . My favourite City and the MotoGP racetrack at Estoril is next to Cascais .
Great nightlife , great food , and very friendly people , plenty of history ,lots of shops,  underground is easy to use . and as a previous poster has said Sintra is  worth checking out and not too far from Lisbon .
