Well I just went onto a biker site I use and was reading some posts and came across this

If you are planning on using it on wet roads I would budget for buying some different tyres.  The knobllys actually give pretty good feel/grip in the dry but on wet roads they are dangerous. I locked the front on mine so many times, I never bothered venturing out in the wet on it...  My crf450x would also eat rears if you get a bit fruity with it (which you will - its addictive), you can easily knacker a rear knobbly in just 5 hours of tarmac riding.

You will regret buying that.
No oil pump, oil change every 3 hrs and usually pigs to start, tappets take ages to set, astronomical spares prices,
but i do have a spare set of dirt wheels for one

They sure go through oil.  I would top mine up, (bear in mind they don't hold much (think my CRF held 650ml on the gearbox side) and it would use up prob 200ml on a decent day out (5 hours).


After each ride I would keep topping it up until I had put a litre through it then do a full oil and filter change.


You need to check oil every time you get on, even if you have pulled over for a brew its worth a quick peek.

Yes indeed,
I have found alot of write ups about the bike,mostly good i add, ,,engine oil is good for 300 miles,,i am only popping to town or up the local dirt track,


If it works then it will be a fun bike,,the kickstart is made to be kicked by the right foot before you get on.

No, you just turn round and bump start it

I've got a phm40m carb if you feel the need for more oooomph
or a box of matches for when it won't start. I used to bump start my 610 as it was easier than kicking it (make sure the piston is at the bottom of the stroke ;-) )

Ok ,i am going to get it Sunday, the seller will demonstrate the easy start thingy,, ,by bouncing up and down on the metal bar thing sticking out of the side of the gearbox


He reckons its a bute of a bike,done loads of 100 mile lap enduros in Wales,


I will wear  my helmet cam during the demonstration,see how it works.He will pass on any tips on how to look after it.

nice one slim, it looks the part m8, I would like something like that, used to have similar I few years ago,  it was just to must hassle with the police or forest commission. what with throwing lumps of wood in your spokes etc etc.  have fun.

It'll be reet.  Starting them is simple once you get the knack, after a few days I didn't think twice about kicking it over in my Crocs.

Well i have been and picked it up today, amazing friendly bloke, was in his house for 1 1/2 hours talking bikes.


I I got it home,then oiled chain and tried to start it,,,hahmmm,, its just getting the knack,it  has not got a high compression,just getting used to sitting on a TALL  bike , which leans quite a bit on the side stand,then standing up and moving the lever and giving it a kick,had a few goes and it fired into action,,helmet on and up the road to my mates house,,in the country we are,,all lanes, showed him then he said get up that dirt track and give it some,,
yahoo,,, muddy or what, bridle path,,the biggest fish tails i have done for thirty years,brilliant,nearly into the hedge once,,


So ,so far good,,got to get it insured and taxed,,oh i had to get home as i noticed the rear light did not work..

Next task MOT, not been done for 14 years,,hope my friendly bike shop gets it through,i gave the brakes a good test the other day and they seemed to work,locked the rear up fine, got to get the rear light working.


Ooh and what if we get some snow,,i am ready

Changed the oil, sump plug a bastard to budge,but now sorted

Took the bike out for its first proper road run,did about 40 miles on back lanes and found a road ford,e=water crossing.
