My 1999 Fazer
« on: 05 January 2014, 09:09:57 pm »
Thought I would do a readers ride type thread for my FZS600

Owned the bike since 2007 not a big rider - seems all the Fazers I looked at had the same low milage as if people seem to by them to look at lol - although this may be to change soon.

This is the bike in 2007

and last summer

1 Swapped Pillion handle for later spec in blue.
2 Fitted Rear Hugger
3 Fitted Viper Can
4 Removed FAZER from fairing
5 Made and Fitted custom graphics
6 Trimmed rear plate

Planned Jobs

1 fit Renthal 755's
2 replace cheap radiator with stainless steel cover
3 replace downpipes with stainless ones
4 LED and possibly HIDS
5 Clear indicator lenses
6 belly pan or lower fairing
7 uprate front dampers

Possibly remove fairing?

Also looking at some luggage options - panniers

"Reader's rides". So it's a bit like "Reader's Wives" then?

 :lol

Nice bike, BTW.

Nice bike! Tell me more about the trimmed plate please?

Here's mine that I bought in September 2013. Not done much to it other than 2 light mod, new rear tyre, and oil filter change.

Best model in the best colour fella  :lol

Can't say I'm keen on the blue rail, reckon silver would be much better but that's just my 2p.

Did you polish the rear wheel or just clean the bugger?

Thanks for the comments

trimmed the plate down on band saw in work standard plate just removed all the wasted space leaving only a 5mm border

Rear wheel has had the paint removed to the lip and then polished through various grades of wet and dry and then metal polish to a mirror finish.

Looks really good with the rear wheel polished fella.

Mind me asking what screen you've got fitted and if it improves on the standard or a double bubble?

The screen is the standard one - looking back at the pics it looks like the double bubble but is genuine.

That is a lovely example; same model as mine - although not such a nice colour  :lol

I wish mine was as in good nick as yours,  Filthy doesn't even begin to describe it :rolleyes

Just out of interest, why remove the 'Fazer' lettering?

To be honest there was a mark on the one side and I think it looks cleaner and a little less dated without.

left the Renthals for another weekend - replaced the lamps in the clocks with LEDs

then took advantage of the weather and took it for a spin - on the way home the Speedo stopped working :) need to try and figure out why now.

Trial fitted a 1000 mirror

Repainted the rear hugger Back instead of Silver

Repainted the pillion handles Black instead of Blue

Replaced standard bars with Black Renthal 755's

Trialed the idea of a half black tank

and later trialed the fairing

The 1000 mirrors, do they reach a little further? I find I have to move my arms to see in my mirrors and it's starting to pee me off.

Bikes looking nice, I like the half black tank, not so keen on the fairing. Have you vinyl wrapped it or something?

Thanks

Yes the mirrors do reach a little further.

I think is enough not sure if the fairing will look better with the  :faz  logo - at the moment I have used some black insulation tape to judge the look and have now ordered some Black vinyl to wrap the tank.

like this maybe

Nice bike ;)
Wouldn't do the two tone, but it's a matter of personal taste.
