A Sunday Ride
« on: 06 December 2013, 08:44:09 pm »
Hmmm, weather looks half decent in the south this Sunday, got any plans for going for a ride?

I can't decide whether to just potter around locally, or go a bit further afield. South west seems to be best chance of some sunshine. Where's that road atlas...........

No idea - what would you suggest? As said, more chance of sunshine south-west, but don't know the area. No rain anywhere much so that's a bonus. Small roads covered in farm shit, so probably more A road-type route. Early-ish start from here, maybe leave at 8am to go.....where?

Cheddar area sounds good - not familiar with it - good roads? Gloucester sounds like the place to meet for that, but where exactly? I'd probably go straight along the A40 to get there. Cafes, McD's (aaargh, there, I've said it!), a hot food stop to kick off?

On the other hand, I don't mind a ride up to Leominster, A44 is enjoyable. What've you got round your way?

Cheddar has some interesting roads, just go careful this time of year as its typically damp and the roads can get a little slippery ;)

Most of the roads around that area aren't half bad, including the A368 that goes past Blagdon Lake and the Chew Valley Reservoir. If you go through Cheddar, the A371 to Wells isn't too bad either - bit more fast paced but you're more likely to hit traffic - especially on a Sunday before Christmas :P

Just had the butler draw the drapes.  Seems that its raining despite "Accuweather" telling me all week that Sunday would be dry and sunny.  I was hoping to go for a run on it to Devils Bridge in the dry - I have now done over 1500 miles on it all in the wet :(
