Y'alrightly folks!
« on: 01 December 2013, 06:00:29 pm »
Just showing my face here for the first time. Got an old style, streetfightered, Fazer 600 but I'm working on restoring it back to original factory settings.
It's my first long use inline 4 and feels very weird, being so used to having singles, twins and V-twins all my life!
Why is there no power before 3k revs?

Welcome Beeblebrox2nd. Nowt wrong with a first gen fazer, had 3 of the buggers!

Plenty of gurus on here to help out should you need it in rebuilding your bike.
If your used to singles and twins, a middleweight 600 will seem a bit gutless. Only one solution to that, ride it like you stole it! These beasties need some revs baby!

Now lets see this streetfighter of yours!
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

The only problem with riding it that fast, is the cost of fuel! With the aftermarket exhaust on it, I can get 48-50mpg at best. My last bike, a Honda NTV650 would give me 60-65mpg, but then, what do I expect with only 49bhp to hand!

Cheers for the welcome though!

Get the revs over 6000 then you'll see where they start singing!

You can plod about on a fazer 600 and get high figures too.  I got a recorded 72.9 mpg once over 100 mile range riding like a nun, check out my fuelly app at the bottom of this post.
If it's any consolation, my current work bike is a bandit 600, and it barely hits 45 mpg! I was gutted, as my last fazer 600 did an average of 54mpg. You've been spoilt by the very frugal, but boring v twin!

Hey, it may be low powered, but the NTV isn't dull!
Are there any bikes that are actually dull?
Isn't it more to do with being a boring rider than anything else?
In which case, who declares that someone is a boring rider?
If you ride two wheels, is dull even an option?
Is anyone going to answer my questions?
Should I stop asking them?

Tune in next week to find out folks!
