Insurance rant
« on: 14 November 2013, 01:25:25 am »
Most Foccers probably know where I stand at the moment. Skint, bikeless, my US placement fell through. To rub salt into the wound, the replacement placement I've found is out in the sticks in Cambridgeshire, but not far from the A14 - which means a 125 or smaller is out of the question. I've managed to find an old ZX4 going cheap from a friend, and now trying to find insurance. When I'm completely honest about my situation, I'm priced right out of the market. As if I can afford £2,500 pa in insurance! I'm currently foaming at the mouth somewhat. The foccing restrictor is just another rod for my back too. Argh!

Any smart ideas? Please?

stop putting it on the comparison sites christo ffs!

i told you, do the quote without it, then when going through the insurance company tell them its restricted due to your age and a lot will just add it on! carole nash and wicked quotes both did this for me a few years back!

I tried that with the ZX4 I'm looking at. But they then clobbered me, asking why I'd declared the claim in my previous searches, but not on the latest one.

Going to phone a few companies direct today. Fingers crossed!!

Nope.

Can't afford an MP3 - thank goodness. I need to focus on what I can afford (and what I want to get.  :D )

You can afford this one........a big bore kit to get you to 20bhp is only £180.

What's the problem with a 125 on the A14?  Most of the time it's so solid with traffic that bikes filtering at 20 mph are the only things moving.......

I used to do the A14 on the Varadero. Not fun dicing it with lorries at 60mph.

Oh, and I'm buying that ZX4. Mum is going to kill me...  ;)

Exup, you're a nob. But a funny nob.  :rollin :rollin :rollin

Noggy, it really isn't too bad! I'm 6 foot 3, with a 33 inch inseam, yet still fit fine on it. Knees maybe a little bit too far forward, but other than that, very comfy. And by gum, does it go!

Piccies later. ;)

A friend of mine told me about these. I have never heard or used them but will be trying them out on my renewal.

Trying phoning MCE insurance directly, I've been with them for 4 of my 5 years on a bike and they haven't let me down and given me very competetive quotes and good extras. At 21 I'm now fully comp and it's about £350 or something a year which is very good and when I claimed after getting my bike knocked over when it was parked they sorted it all out very well. Hastings direct are also good, although a bit more expensive I was with them last year for 1 year.
