Steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeve!!!!, look forward to the right up buddy,
Out of interest...from experience.....how reliable are ktm road bikes???,based on the 990 would you keep one long term, say 10 years with just normal wear & tear???
& what sort of stuff can you annihilate with the 990 please?
Cheers
Fras
I've had mine from new since '07 - the only fault has been a failed water pump. Generally reliability is pretty good with, if the Superduke.net forum is anything to go by, few problems. But they are idiosyncratic buggers - changing the oil requires removing two drain plugs, two filters and cleaning two screens. Changing the coolant requires lifting the front of the bike 50cms - harder to do than you might imagine. Battery access appears to have been conceived by someone convinced you never needed to get to it...
It might say a lot pointing out that when I leave the country to go to France, Holland or Spain I'll always take the Fazer, not the SD.
As for annihilating - ALL the performance is under 80 odd mph; to 60 or 70 and
between 20 and 70 I'd say almost nothing can touch it, but in general the Fazer is quicker. And more comfortable - the SD is a bike you perch very much 'on top' of, with very little wind protection, none actually. It feels like you're sitting on a billiard ball, it turns so quickly but leaves you just as exposed to the elements.
No electric rider aids, nothing to make you feels safe - just a sophisticated but violent V Twin strapped in to a bicycle frame with two thumping great Brembo brakes on huge disks mounted on forks that are near vertical.
Fantastic.
