I got a great deal on a set of four Continental tyres for my Pug 306 in about 2003. Ruined a great little car. Hardest rubber I've ever seen on tyres. In the wet they turned roundabouts into straightabouts! Terrible tyres.

Not really relevant though....

No problems yet, been riding in rain all this week. I ride all winter too but I don't corner hard so I don't often find the limits of my tyres.

Maxxis and cheng shin are the same tyre manufacturer, Maxxis being they're 'premium' tyre

I had the Bridgestone T30 rear let go on me in the wet the other day, mid corner on ever so slight acceleration, although admittedly when I checked pressures the next day it was down to 24, yep, low, which is funny because steering hadn't become overly heavy which makes me believe whatever the construction it must be pretty stiff!

24 ???
That would normally be like riding with a sack of spuds as a tyre!  :lol

Completely agree, I can normally tell if the pressure has dropped by 4 let alone that much hence why I'm thinking the structure must be pretty stiff!

Yeah, i'm pretty hot on it as well, i'm fortunate to have air lines at work so i check mine quite often anyway.
Dropped my rear to 40 recently, was finding 42 just a little too much, but if the structure is stiff like you say then i could probably go down to 38 which could be good for winter.

Go too low on pressures and you're negating the effect the sipes have on wet roads- too low a pressure and the tyre deforms so much the sipes close up and won't push the water at the contact point on the road!

I'll probably just stick around the 40psi then so the bike can cope with my slender physique.  :lol
