Rubber airbox cover thing !!

Can I chuck that stupid rubber in the bin ? In other words, will it make any differance to the performance

Why would you want to do that then?
It's obviously there for a reason and not in the way or anything.


I would imagine the reason it's there is to stop water from running down the tank and being sucked into the carbs when it's pissing down with rain.

Because it's a pain in the ar**  Do you know why it is there ?  I can't afford dyno time at the moment.

I will put it back    until it go's on the dyno early next year

It's just a bit of weather-proofing, it won't bite yer

yep +1 for weather proofing....also protects the electrics behind the side panels and forms part of the fitting to hold the panels on

Itchy, one of the previous owners of my bike decided in all their wisdom to be rid of "stupid rubber thingy". When I stripped and rebuilt the bike a couple of years ago I noticed it was missing. It took me an age to find one. Do not throw it away. It protests your air filter and channels the air properly. It also seems to have improved the performance of the bike. I don't know how much you know about bikes, but I am certain that you know less than Yamaha Motorcycle Engineers, why not trust their judgement?
