Now I wonder if you could tell me what is inoffensive about the following;

Can we agree that such 'songs' and ancient history/politics really have no place at a football match?

maybe its because I'm more a rugby fan but i dont ever recall seeing a fight between rival fans at a rugby match,
(in fact only fights i've seen were at the Army Vs Navy game between groups of squaddies, the navy just stood n cheered!), And there is some great rivally between rugby fans,,, oh and yes rugby songs are (were) generally rude but not insulting

AIUI there's similarly no violence in US football or Ice Hockey matches, mostly because there's enough violence on the field of play!
