New MF Battery Knackered??
« on: 01 October 2013, 07:36:14 pm »
So just had a new MF battery delivered, charged it on Optimate as instructed, Optimate reports it as being "Weak".

Made sure all connections good, tried again, charged for a few minutes, "Weak".

I have an MF on my other Fazer which charges as "Good".

Do I have a knackered brand new battery??

 :(

So what you doin with a Massey Ferguson battery? :eek
You need one for a Fazer.....
How long have you had it on the optimate?
I would suggest at least 24 hrs.
Then fit to the bike & start up.
If it don't start ring the supplier, could be faulty. :lol

Leave it on overnight. 24 hours should show some better signs.
You can leave an Optimate on for weeks.

Paperwork with the battery says it's delivered charged, but they recommend a top-up of up to 4 hours.

Mine is reporting "weak" after about 10 minutes.  I thought that Optimates reported "Good" or "Weak" when they had done their best to charge a battery (shows "Charge" when charging), so leaving it connected longer won't make it any better, it'll never flip from Weak to Good??
