Exup Squeal
« on: 24 September 2013, 08:00:32 am »
Fitted the replacement servo, all good. I now hear a short squeal when the ignition is first turned on. Could this denote anything nasty or is it just the servo resetting itself?

A lube of the Exup valve should solve your squeal mate...  ;)

Its all copper slipped up. The valve runs very smoothly with no resistance.

mine does this too, and its lubed and adjusted. But lube does burn off after  time and I think its the initial release of the exup in the plain bearing  on start up. Its done this for last few years ...so I might deduce its nowt to worry about , and mine is due another strip and lube.

Could it just be the initial movement of the servo? It sounds like it is coming from there rather than the Exup itself. My original motor did the same thing for a couple of months before it stopped working.  I checked the inside of the old servo and it is full of plastic cogs and a little grease. Nothing to make the noise that I could see.
