Am I correct in saying the mirrors fir square eye and foxeye models are different? Which other models share the same model mirrors as the foxeye? 1000?

Otherwise, anyone replaced the bolt where the mirror hinges? It's not your usual nut and bolt, looks like a specialised rivet. Mines snapped.

I think the only difference between box and fox mirrors is the stem length- longer on foxeye!

The FZS1000 shares the same mirrors as the Foxeye 600 and they will fit the Boxeye 600 as well - I've done this before as I prefer the look and they actually function as mirrors instead of angel / devil shoulder detectors...

On buying mirrors for gen 1 thou, and if the same, Foxeye 600 - most of the pattern ones are shite. The fold in pivot quickly loosens and then will fold in whenever you get up to any speed. Genuine Yam ones will of course be silly money. Best to buy good condition 2nd hand ones if you can, or if anybody on here can recommend good quality pattern - I've yet to see any as most firms sell ones that are all made in the same factory.

Hey Nick, are you trying to say that my £5 mirrors from ebay hong kong wont be any good

I expect them to last about 30 minutes before breaking up like a shuttle on re entry

Was checking out some super cheap ass ones from Hong Kong on ebay £12.50 a pair delivered! But it seems they don't even fold in at all! Yeah genuine ones seem be around £70-80 each.

These genuine part prices are disgraceful, but I guess it might be Yamaha's way of saying "go buy a new Yamaha"! We had a giggle at one of the bike shops where I used to work by pricing up what it would cost to build an NR750 Honda from new genuine parts - it was a long while ago now, so I don't remember the exact figure but I think it came to somewhere near £200 g's! Wonder what it would be for a Fazer?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that a brand new Fireblade was worth about 3 times a much in spare parts as its list price!

"Costs" about 3 times as much. Then when you're done putting it together, it's "worth" no more than a new Blade from the showroom!

Oh, by the way Arfa, Yamaha only do the mirrors complete, they don't sell the bolt separately.

Agree with nick on this - cheap mirrors fall very firmly into the "buy cheap, buy twice" category. However, my £15 delivered ones are holding up ok even though I stripped the thread on one of the mounting bolts 5 minutes after owning them

So as I read it the foxeye 600 and fazer 1000 will fit my boxeye only that they are a longer stem. I too am looking into changing for longer ones as I am sick of having to do the "funcky chicken" with my elbows everytime i want to see behind

Yup, that's correct - had them on my Boxeye with improved visibility... that was until the crash which somehow destroyed both mirrors...

I suppose you could, but it wouldn't look as nice

I like the look of the Foxeye mirrors as well though so its down to personal preference. They are probably an inch or two longer? I'm not certain and can't check I'm afraid as I don't have either the original Boxeye or Foxeye mirrors anymore
