Anyone changed the pegs -Gen 1
« on: 22 October 2012, 12:37:20 pm »
Been thinking of putting some solid pegs on the bike, mainly as it is what I am used to and it will give more feel and also a bit more legroom to boot, but also the rubbers are a bit tatty on mine and I will be removing the back pegs for the time being too.

Anyone know if R1 footpegs go on OK or if they need spacing?

If you mean complete R1 footrest assembly, no, they won't fit.

I fitted Oberon pegs on mine but I can't recall if they were fixed or hinged.  I've since changed to LSL rearsets. :)

I do recall that the Oberon pegs felt masses better than the stock rubber-topped jobbies.  Also, to my surprise, they seemed to transit fewer vibes.  Odd.

I have some aftermarket ones from Ebay. I think I paid less than £30 for 2 sets. They look just like Oberon foot pegs, but a lot cheaper...

I drilled out the old pivot pin to remove old foot peg, then fit the new foot peg replacing the drilled out pivot pin with a Nyloc nut 7 bolt. Piece of cake  ;)

I have the oberon touring pegs on mine, as above drilled the end of the old fixing then fitted the new pegs using the original spring. Oberon supplied new nyloc nuts, bolts and washers. 10 mins work maximum

I just meant the actual peg, not the hanger, I realised that they would not interchange. Yamaha didn't obviously realise metals would become precious in the future when they set those moulds up  :lol

Seen some cheapo ally ones with springs, fixings the lot for about £7-8 on the bay.

I assume from your replies the originals are fixed in place? Usually they have 'c' clips or split pins through.

Hmm, cool, any chance of touching down?

these are what I've seen, cheaper than dirty used ones from breakers too.

I had some cheap ones of eBay fitted and they felt fine but lost the black colour in a few months.
Simple to drill the rivet out and swap over.
I touch down the oe pegs now and then so tried some angled alloy ones that I didn't ground.
But changed back to oe ones now as I use the pegs to let me know I'm pushing to hard. With the angled ones it got twitchy before the touched.

But very easy to swap and play around.

I did the mod on my last bike (CBR)

I had some spacers made to convert the pegs 11mm hole to fit the 8mm pin of the CBR.

I'd like to change mine but am worried about any extra vibes which I definitely don't want. Also I find that fixed pegs catch on the top of my boots causing drama and hilarity as i fall over.
