AIS and Carb coolant bypass removal kit UK ?
« on: 26 December 2015, 11:12:08 am »
Guys, planning to remove the above on my Gen1 whilst it's laid up over the winter, just done the read up on Pats page, I was just wondering if the Ivan's kit he describes are available here on the UK?. If not where would I get all the various blanking plugs etc?.

Thanks in advance guys

I ordered the hole shot kit from the states (didn't fancy tapping out bits etc) it came in about ten days.

I also used the Holeshot kit and can recommend it as it is a doddle to fit unlike the Ivan's approach of tapping out the spigots which I found to be a right PITA though admittedly I'd never tapped anything before which might explain why I quickly gave up and bought the Holeshot kit. It's just a pain that postage from the US costs about as much as the kit so although IMHO it's the best option it's not a cheap one.

I don't have the instructions to hand, but it is basically the same instructions as can be found on pats site, only instead of tapping the 4 holes the holes hot kit comes with 4 caps which you loctite over the holes.

Dale recommends using a copper silicone to properly seal the blanking caps on the Holeshot kit - I bought this from Amazon - http://www.amazon.co.uk/V-tech-Copper-Silicone-Instant-Gasket/dp/B00442ONX0 - and it worked well.

I went the holeshot option also, be aware these are an interference fit, make sure you fit them in exactly in line with the spigots as the start before tapping them in.
I also used the copper silicone.

You will need to take the rad off to make fitting easier.

I don't recognise your description from my experience of the Holeshot kit. The caps that I received were held in place by grub screws and slipped over the spigots with no force required. From what I can see this is still the case, maybe you got some of the caps that Justy (I think)  made a while back ??

You can see the grub screws in the picture of the fitted kit on  the Holeshot product page.
