Motorcycle Awareness course made compulsary in car driving test/all over 60s to sit some form of test/assesment .i think ive got a Stealth switch on my bike which makes me invisible---
I agree, to a certain point with this!
Not to be controversial but I drive a car and a truck as well as ride my bike..of which I have my IAM for all..just giving you some background before the next part!
Lots of bikers don't realise that if they can't see the driver of the vehicles, what chance has the vehicle drivers got in seeing them?
Just one example that I get often is bikes sitting up close to my rear end on the truck, they are out of my sight then suddenly they want to overtake, out they pop, with a hope and a prayer by the looks of some of them, then blast past shaking their wee heads off as if it's my fault they can't see past me! Or even that I don't 'tell them' it's clear (more on this later)
If those guys when sitting their test are shown what to do, ie get in view, they would be much better prepared for the real world.
It's not that I don't see them approaching, I most certainly do, but when they sit where I can't see them, that's just asking for trouble. And just before anyone says I should indicate to show them it's clear if I'm aware that they are there,
1. It's against the rules of the highway code making it illegal.
2. If caught doing it I could be liable in a court of law.
Sorry, it's not my shout to tell anyone behind me that it's clear, that's their shout m'lord.
Yes, big rant over, happy biking and stay safe.
