I have a can of brake cleaner so will give the rear pistons a good clean, I hear they are prone to seize on the rear. Likewise I will clean front ones as well. I don't have red rubber grease, is it safe to put that on pistons? I heard you shouldn't really grease pistons up as they will attract dirt??  I do have copper greace, would you recommend that for back of pads? Good points regarding filter, will only hand tighten

Evening all, new TPS arrived, fitted and set to 5000, I've also added photo of box it came in to show all makes/models this TPS fits (in case people need to search for a cheaper alternative) also the new TPS had A4 stamped on back of it.

Just tested my tps and it won't budge from 10k so glad I've ordered another, hopefully should be here in next couple of days and I'm hoping it cures my shit idle and shit running under 3k rpm.

It did move to 10000 after a short time, I think previous owner spent a lot of time in the 0-3k range hence it being a bit shit at that range, I'm led to believe the sensor is nothing more than a glorified variable resistance dial similar to a volume dial on a stereo

Hi mogster has the new tps arrived? If so I'd be interested to know if it solved your issues as I'm in the process of ordering one as I have exactly the same symptoms, shit running and hard work under 3000rpm

Yeah easy enough to remove, just two torx screws, there are tons of threads on the forum for how to remove and set up. If you could try it on your other bike (I'm guessing you have another fzs 600 pre 2004? That would be great. If not no worries.

You still got the throttle position sensor? If so is it in full working order and smooth throughout the rev range (particular at idle and up through the lower rpms) also how much would you want for it?

Thanks

I've dealt with Bradford motorcycles in the past, they are a decent showroom, only deal in good condition low mileage bikes so I'm sure you will have yourself a good one.

Does seem a little jerky below 2k at low speeds I.e pulling off from lights (not too bad though), idle speed seems fine though and no erratic taco readings of it jumping all over the place. I did adjust it after the previous 10000 reading but it still read 10000 and couldn't get it to 5000 so just left it. I will see how it goes, I'm hoping its fine, I think I read somewhere that the TDM 850 has same TPS and possibly a few other bikes if I need to look for a replacement.

Blew down a random pipe and some oil popped out so I'm guessing it will work once engine is running and pipe is in correct place ;)

FZS600 Fazer / tonights visit into the garage

So tonight I had a few things on my list.

1. Check TPS reading (again)
2. Work out how the fuck I get the keys out of my top box when I turn it to the lock position.
3. See if my scottoiler was primed and ready to go for when the bracket arrives.

Well I'm happy to report the TPS now reading 5000 (not fucking sure why because last time I checked it was 10000)

As for the top box wellllllll there are 3 key positions, left turn (unlock), middle position (only position I can remove key) and right position (lock) so to lock it you have to turn it to lock position and as slightly pulling on key turn it back to middle otherwise it doesn't quite lock...... Anyway now I know how to lock and unlock it im happy no scroat will run off with my gear.

The scottoiler seems to work, I saw a random tube coming off it so I blew down the fucker and the pump started moving and a couple of drops of oil popped out the end of the tube so I'm guessing once bikes started it should all operate as it should :)

Tonight was a success in what has been a friggin nightmare lately with that bike haha

I will be using a torque wrench and aim for the 35-40 mm range then ;)

Well I've ordered the axle bracket which is winging its way to me. Bet once I fit it the pissing thing doesn't even deliver any oil haha, the canister looks full under seat, bet I need to prime and do lots of sucking and blowing to get the thing working.

Evening foccers, just wondering what the correct rear wheel but torque value is and what the chain sag should be and how to correctly set and measure it.
