They say that for car filters in ideal conditions - even though I find it strange. I have always been a fan of nice clean filters and had a K&N in my airbox from 25-45000km and cleaned it every 4000km as I found it dirty its what I thought I should do.
I must admit I am blessed with great roads and great biking weather, we ride every weekend all year and the roads are spectacular here.
If you are down this way drop us a line

Almost defo the front tyre - get it changed but beware you will find the bike handles rather well with new boots dont fall into the trap I fell into of over confidence and then come a cropper...... :'(

If its done it from purchase then it could be twisted forks, if its been a gradual thing then change the front tyre and or get it balanced properly. Worst thing is a bent and or twisted frame - dont want to scare you but maybe you should have a close look.

Mail me and I will send you the jet sizes, needle hights and carb balancing was a whole different story it took me a whole afternoon and I dont have the details written down it was just patience and a whole lot of adjusting.

If its your only form of transport buy a decent airbox filter and clean it every 2/3000km as the conversion means a thirsty bike. However if you really want to play with your bike and learn about carbs, airflow etc and are not afraid of the conversion then go for it. One way or the other you will need to balance your carbs after and that took me a while after putting cones in....

You have to invent - tidy looking bike Keno, I am not a fan of twin headlights but the work looks good.

no I have taken the air box out of mine its true but I had a K&n in the air box before, if the conditions are perfect and the bike brand new then OK go for it but I would take it out after say 2-3000 km and have a look you will have oil from the breather pipe and general detritus from the air. Filters do not self clean and if you want your bike to breath easily cleaning them is essential.
Do they really say every 50,000km that is a rather outlandish claim and bad marketing for the cleaning materials.. :rolleyes :rolleyes

K&N filters are the same as any other filter and hence need cleaning as any other filter needs cleaning thats what they do filter the air and need to be cleaned, i  like ,y bike to breath and drink with the least resistance so I clean my filters every 2000km change my oil every 3000 and balance my carbs at the same time but its just a weekend toy and hence boot too many km done.

Sounds like one of either two things - could be the fuel so your carbs need to be balanced, easy if you have the gear and know how but a cheap mechanic fix if not but before that whip off your tank and have a look at the filter it sounds like a breathing problem if the bike is oldish then it will be pushing oil up into the filter and need regular cleaning and or change it for an after market you should notice a nice change in the pickup around 6500 with a k&n or something similar - but buy the cleaning kit and clean it every 2000 or you will have issues again.

Enjoy your ride bro.

Biscuit tin....:-)
Well if you want a bike nobody will notice and if you never want to learn about bikes then take it to a spray shop and mechanic but if you want to be a biker strip the bike down think about what you want, go to bike fairs and or scrap yards, get some grease under your fingernails and learn what being a biker is all about from your imaginationa and your bike - get a Haynes manual too.
As for my biscuit tin bike well it pumps our over 100bhp on the rear and can take out triumph Striples, it has been mistaken for an RD500 and even a Tzr 750 + been bike of the day on bikepics what's your bike look like an OE Fazer with a top box....thought you might have one of those Packie.

021 or 023 - the 23 has the 3 layer system the 21 only 2 so the 23 is always better - me I like 016s or sportecs by metzler but then I live in a warm place with amazing roads  :rollin

I had already done a fair amount of work on her before we fell on a dusty corner late last year. So I decided to rip off the plastics and take a rattle can to her and give her the TZR look.
The final transmission I changed and the carbs had been fiddled with a while ago when I changed the exhaust and put a K&N in the air box so she was putting out almost 106bhp 18months back.
I ripped out the air box and put in the cone filters (sorry I dont remember the make, my local mechanic ordered them for me he is much better than a bike parts shop and cheaper) but yes had to put in some more jets (a whole lot of work I give thanks to mr Haynes for helping me achieve) She runs sweet and fast, sounds incredible but needs a while to warm up and sucks on pertol rather more than before.
I will stick up some pics asap - If i can stick a vid up I would let you hear her.
She can take out a Street triple on acceleration and corners just as sweet but I really want to stiffen up the suspension  :b

Its a rather nice exhaust I think - it is made by a company that makes car exhausts though  :rollin The angle of the pic is not too flattering but I will try to snap a few more with a better camera. What you got on yours mate?
What sort of difference does the 1000 rear suspension give, I have a few springs and outfits from various bikes and thought about changing some over but the rear is not my worry the front is what I would like to stiffen up as she is bouncing at the front when on a decent lean at speed and I have had a few unnerving moments on some of the twisties around here this winter.

FZS600 Fazer / Suspension upgrade on the cheap?
« on: 15 April 2013, 05:09:15 pm »
I am thinking of uprating my suspension after I have done nearly everything else I want to do to my bike but I need to find a cheap way to do this so I ask - for the front what are recomended aftermarket springs to put in ? For the rear any sugestions would be good.
