HID Projectors
« on: 12 August 2015, 03:04:14 pm »
Hi Fazer Buddies,

I know there are a lot of posts about HIDs and headlight mods, but i haven't seen one for projectors, please tell me to go to another post if necessary  :D

Since I am doing quite a lot of TLC to my bike at the moment, and i have just done the headlight mod, It had me thinking, I quite like angel eyes (got some in my beemer). Anyway I was looking through and stumbled on these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BI-Xenon-Projector-Lens-light-HID-ANGELS-EYE-H1-H7-H4-/320744427630?hash=item4aaddb906e and I was wondering if it was feasible for a Boxeye to have these?

I fitted the angel eyes in my beemer so i am confident in taking headlights apart etc :) and i was also thinking about painting all the reflectors and silver bits matte black  8)

If i get positive feedback then i will go ahead and do it and take pics along the way  :photo

Also what do you think it would look like?

Thanks Foccers :D

quite a lot of people have done this, retro labs have a fazer specific set of projectors that dont mean destroying the original reflectors which for the ones youve linked, you will need to cut the reflector to get them in..

but

price it up, reflector vs cost of retro labs kit which is £150!

Hi Paul,

As you posted i saw bimbam's (i think) post about the retrolabs :rollin

They don't have the angel eyes though do they? and also they are a little pricey  :\  I can probably get away with 80 but the partner might get a little crazy if i go overboard.  :lol

If all fails then I will just get another headlight unit, local scrappy has one for 50 quid  :)

yeah id go with the ones youve linked and just destroy the reflector.
headlight in the oven about 80c for 10-15 mins but keep checking on it.

the glue will soften up then pull it apart.

Making up your own kit like the retrofit one would be easy enough. I considered it (on a spare set of lights so I could take the time to design myself some brackets, get material etc) but I've not done it yet, maybe I won't since I almost never ride at night, but it's plenty doable for less than a bazillion dollars. I've put cheap hids in cars though and reliability... Isn't great!
