Round it off with a dremel and tidy the front edge with some cheap edge trim

Thanks Anne.

Went to visit at the w/e and she was in reasonable spirits but waiting anxiously on further test results to determine extent.

It really is the most horrible thing.

Feel for anyone or their families going through cancer.

My eldest sister died of it some 15 years ago and my younger sister has just been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Hopefully treatment progress and improvements mean the outlook is much better these days.

If they are small enough you may be able to mount them behind/underneath the clocks. You will need to remove the screen to gain access.

I think on an '02 you still have a headlight switch so you should be OK - on my '05 which has no switch I couldn't get the HID's to fire up reliably. HID's seem to need the engine running before switching on the headlights. I had no such problems with the same kit previously on my FZS600.

Other than that the kit I had (not from your supplier) was a pretty straightforward plug and play with using the existing bulb power supply to the ballasts.

« on: 07 November 2011, 03:47:35 pm »
Over the weekend did a deep clean in preparation for winter:

-dismantled exhaust, removed rear wheel and rear suspension
- cleaned and greased all suspension parts
- stripped and greased exup
- removed, cleaned and greased brake calipers
- thorough degrease, clean and ACF50 application to engine etc.
- reassembled

Went for a blast to disperse copious smoke emanating from heated ACF50 !

We live at the bootom of a hill in an estate on the edge of town and it never gets gritted. 2 winters ago our car was stranded for over a week until a neighbour kindly towed us out with his Rangey and we then parked it at the top of the hill until the snow cleared.

Last year I invested in some snow socks and they are fantastic if used as advised i.e. in snow. The grip they provide is quite astonishing. Put them on - get clear - take them off. If you run for any length of time/speed on tarmac you will quickly destroy them. But they are very easy to put on/off unlike snow chains.

If your circumstances fit I can thouroughly recommend them.

- cutting a piece of timber and jamming it between the floor and the undertray will prevent any pivoting accidents while there's no rear wheel in. you may not lean on the seat but visiting mates or children....

Another safety tip to avoid any possibility of accidentally  'lifting' the bike off the centre stand whilst heaving on tight bolts etc. is to simply tie a piece of rope or similar between the stand and the front wheel.

« on: 25 October 2011, 09:10:48 am »
Had my cheap chinky levers for about 18 months now. They fitted well and have worked well with no real down sides. I paid 26 quid the pair at the time inc delivery.
The one slight downside is the colouring dose fade affter a while and is quite noticeable.
I went black and I have seen red ones and gold ones with the same fade. I don't know how well silver would last but I imagine its better.

But as above sometimes you want an update with a more OE look and the zx gives that.

I guess this proves that there must be more than the one manufacturer! I paid a bit more but have not suffered any fade - still look as good as the day they arrived - about 16 months ago

I was similarly suspicious of cheap Chinese ebay levers but took the plunge and bought a pair for about £38 delivered and they are excellent quality - very happy with them.

If you are riding regularly I don't see that you should have battery problems unless there is something untoward or a crap/faulty battery. I have a 19 mile each way commute and never have to charge my battery and I have heated grips and autocom above standard usage - but no alarm.

05 original battery still going strong.

Got mine - and already installed on back window of the motor.

More of these on display the better, so good job in advertising their free availability.

I guess it might be possible without removing the radiator but I bet you end up inventing some new swear words if you attempt it. Why make life difficult for the potential cost of a hose or two, and as dickturpin says it sounds like they may be due for replacement anyway.

And as we are approaching winter when did you last do a coolant change - sounds like an opportunity to combine a few jobs  . . .

IT CAN BE HARD KEEPING A STRAIGHT FACE AS A COURT REPORTER

These are from a book called Disorder in the American Courts and are things people actually said in court, word for word, taken
down and published by court reporters that had the torment of staying calm while the exchanges were taking place.

ATTORNEY: What was the first thing your husband said to you that morning?
WITNESS:      He said, 'Where am I, Cathy?'
ATTORNEY: And why did that upset you?
WITNESS:      My name is Susan!

          _____________________________
ATTORNEY: What gear were you in at the moment of the impact?
WITNESS:      Gucci sweats and Reeboks.
____________________________________________
ATTORNEY: Are you sexually active?
WITNESS:      No, I just lie there.
____________________________________________
ATTORNEY: What is your date of birth?
WITNESS:      July 18th.
ATTORNEY: What year?
WITNESS:      Every year.
_____________________________________
ATTORNEY: How old is your son, the one living with you?

WITNESS:      Forty-five years.
_________________________________
ATTORNEY: This myasthenia gravis, does it affect your memory at all?
WITNESS:      Yes.
ATTORNEY: And in what ways does it affect your memory?
WITNESS:      I forget..
ATTORNEY: You forget? Can you give us an example of something you forgot?
___________________________________________
ATTORNEY: Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning?
WITNESS:      Did you actually pass the bar exam?
____________________________________

ATTORNEY: The youngest son, the 20-year-old, how old is he?
WITNESS:      He's 20, much like your IQ.
___________________________________________
ATTORNEY: Were you present when your picture was taken?
WITNESS:      Are you shitting me?
_________________________________________
ATTORNEY: So the date of conception (of the baby) was August 8th?
WITNESS:      Yes.
ATTORNEY: And what were you doing at that time?
WITNESS:      Getting laid
____________________________________________

ATTORNEY: She had three children , right?
WITNESS:      Yes.
ATTORNEY: How many were boys?
WITNESS:      None.
ATTORNEY: Were there any girls?
WITNESS:      Your Honor, I think I need a different attorney. Can I get a new attorney?
____________________________________________
ATTORNEY: How was your first marriage terminated?
WITNESS:      By death..
ATTORNEY: And by whose death was it terminated?
WITNESS:      Take a guess.
___________________________________________

ATTORNEY: Can you describe the individual?
WITNESS:      He was about medium height and had a beard
ATTORNEY: Was this a male or a female?
WITNESS:      Unless the Circus was in town I'm going with male.
_____________________________________
ATTORNEY: Is your appearance here this morning pursuant to a deposition notice which I sent to your attorney?
WITNESS:      No, this is how I dress when I go to work.
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: Doctor , how many of your autopsies have you performed on dead people?
WITNESS:      All of them. The live ones put up too much of a fight.
_________________________________________
ATTORNEY: ALL your responses MUST be oral, OK? What school did you go to?
WITNESS:      Oral...
_________________________________________
ATTORNEY:  Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
WITNESS:      The autopsy started around 8:30 PM
ATTORNEY: And Mr. Denton was dead at the time?
WITNESS:      If not, he was by the time I finished.
____________________________________________
ATTORNEY: Are you qualified to give a urine sample?
WITNESS:      Are you qualified to ask that question?
______________________________________
And last:

ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
WITNESS:      No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?
WITNESS:      No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing?
WITNESS:      No..
ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
WITNESS:      No.
ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
WITNESS:      Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
ATTORNEY: I see, but could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?
WITNESS:      Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.

I fitted an HID kit to both my 600s as the lights were crap (particularly on the original square headlight model - Foxeye was better) but the 1000's lights seem much improved and I've just replaced with superior bulbs.
