Because i recently change them, the bolts are M10 x 1.25. The manual says M8 but its wrong.I used 10.9 metric(which is 8 grade american).DOnt use soft bolts there! Hope it helps!
Don't these bolts have to be of a certain tensile strength?
Quote from: nick crisp on 03 August 2013, 10:44:21 amDon't these bolts have to be of a certain tensile strength? Don't want to harp on about this, but I think it's actually pretty important. I believe the torque settings on these bolts are quite high, that's one reason for the tensile rating requirement. Also, if I remember right, they need to be Loctited in place when you refit them.
Nick,If i remember well the oem bolts are 8 grade, wich is the equivalent of 10.9 in metric system.Of cource we can use titanium bolts but the price is prohibitive.
I just wanted to be sure that people don't just use any old bolts as the discussion here seemed to be more about sizes with no mention of other requirements. I know you'd already mentioned this mars696, but wanted to make sure people picked up on it. I've got nothing better to do, sorry!
You are right,safety first!!!
Well, my results were unhelpful... I forgot that the previous owner was a bit mad and so I have three different sized hex bolts holding my calipers on - 1x 14mm, 1x 13mm and 2x 12mmIf nothing else, my bike has character...
