Track day 2015
« on: 14 January 2015, 04:43:58 pm »
Whose got plans to be attending any this year?
I fancy Cadwell Feb/March time but work conflicts to much for me. Blyton Park would have been good to as only up the road from me but only seem to be open to cars. May take a ride up sometime and get a few laps in before of get kicked off ..
When i was about 14 my dad took me up once in his old banged up van and we did a few laps ... Someone chased us and we pulled up , turned out we was going round the wrong way :/

I'd be looking at doing it easter, weather picks up surprisingly around that time of year, plus there's talks of it getting resurfaced before the motogp in August so personally I'd look at doing it earlier in the year!

I've just convinced a couple of mates to do the Kent firebike rideskills day at brands on the 8th April,  so I'm going to go with them but do the normal track day at £105 for the indy circuit!

I am going to do  a fly drive in  California and Nevada  during Easter  :)  , thanks to  ppi compensation   ;) and  then Mike is doing his magic and Ivanising the bike at the end  of  April  :)  , that's why I  will have to wait till the summer .

Did snetterton last year, it was superb. Will be doing again in June or July if they have open pit day and once I've fitted the footpeg risers I have made.
I have now booked Snetterton for June 8th for the full day. Doing both the day and evening sessions. All I need now is a high-level link pipe and some new Supercorsas for my spare wheels.

Just had an awesome day June 8th 2015 at Snetterton 300 with MSV, the old girl really showed up the bigger bikes on the brakes, search on YouTube
Snetterton 300 8th June 2015
the best are number 1 where my brother crashes his ZX7 and number 3 when I get followed by John Reynolds.

Hi Harry
After following me for we came into the pits and he pointed to me and he commented on my riding. He'd never seen someone ride an 86k mile bike with such commitment and skill. He asked if I'd ever raced I told him it was 2nd track day, he was a top bloke offering some good advice. He felt with a proper track bike I could have been quite good. Back in his garage he told his partner at MotoVudo to watch me in the next session. I was getting some serious lean angles, my side stand was hitting the floor on the left and the exhaust clamp on the right. Hope you liked the videos.

WOW, high praise indeed, vids were great, nice to see a Fazer being ridden hard.

I did think your last post was going to end with you being offered a ride by John following your second session, would have been an amazing end to the story LOL

Awesome vids SGP, I've only managed 2 cos my data's dodgy on camp ..  gutted for your brother in the 1st one, he didn't even make it round the 1st corner :/ how was he and the bike?

I really want to do a novice track day but had so much on these last few months iv not even managed to get myself some leathers yet.
I'm thinking of doing one of these Ron Haslam track days at Donnington.  They supply the kit and I'll learn something too.

Thanks odb you've got to do it. I've been riding for 32 years and only did my first track day last year, the best thing I've ever done in a bike. The vids from this month were my second track day. Get some track day tyres from eBay Supercorsas are simply amazing. This time I made some footpeg risers to raise the footpeg up by 50mm (I have spare set available). Plus drop the forks by 15-20mm through the yokes this helps the turn-in. Really fancy doing Donington too.
My brothers bike crashed due to a cold tyre and was out for the day as it rolled over and burst the radiator and snapped the front brake lever off, he has now replaced the complete fairing, brake and getting the radiator fixed. I have made him a full set of graphics for the new fairing.
Video 3 is my favourite. Top speed 130 on back straight, first corner 85-90 when you tip in. Best lap of the day was 2.18.

I assumed it was down to cold tyre for your brother. Seemed to be waiting a long time to get waved off..
Watched your vids now. Top stuff! It's good watching everyone else fly ahead on the straights as soon as the corners in site you out brake and manoeuvre them!
2.18 lap time is good too, not to far behind shakey ;)
I really do need to pull my finger out and get a track day done. :/ haha ...
What you mean by drop the forks by 15-20mm through the yokes this helps the turn-in .. ?? Think I may be monging it?
