When you say still sticks, I dont think that the wheel should spin freely untill gravity stops it, as the pads do always slightly touch at all times. What you had was excessive so giving a good clean should be all you need.

36,40,90,10 no matter what your gauge says -no point unless you have a correct reading and reliable one. NOT garage forecourt

Can not remember exactly but I fitted a STEBEL MAGNUM. I made a bracket from a flat bit of thin steel so that the bigger horn sat up a bit into the fairing - offer it up first and work out your bends in  the bracket so to use the same fixing point on the frame

I had very simular starting probs- and it was the spark plugs FZS 600. But you said that yours were replaced. Its funny that it seems that when people have probs and say sparkplugs have been replaced - they always seem to be the iridium ones ! - I just put the norm ones in

Paraffin best and cheepest by far Not sure exactly but think is safer than petrol if you get it on rubbers - like brake hose but would stear clear of those to be sure

You need parafin or called somtimes ceraseen (spelling) I sware by it, you get it in 5 ltr containers from most garage forcorts in the bin on the front along with wood sticks - coal etc. Far far safer than petrol

She was extremely apologetic and said she must have looked down for an instant, when I was waiting to turn right into my drive:

(Another 11 photos on photobucket for the record)

No damage to bike, just the loud thud of her car hitting the rear tyre of my stationary bike. Bike and I remained upright. I suppose I ought to get the bike checked over e.g. rear wheel alignment? Her car lost its number plate and has damage to the plastic grill below it. All photographed including the plastic debris from the grill.

She's keen not to get insurers involved. Neither am I as there appears to be no damage (but I do need to look it over in daylight). Plus I have a witness who thrust her details into my hand.

Let it go?

You did exactly the right thing in getting photographic proof. And you should deff get it checked out and she should pay for it

My daughter has just done here theory and thre was somthing about bikers that came up (maybe twice) I know not enough but is there.
I think all car drivers should 1st be bike riders --- thats the only way to go.
I was doing the hazard perception test on inne to Help motavate my daughter and was clicking like mad -- its wet -- no leaves on trees- poss icy, man hole cover! white lines ---I failed

You should of fitted the fuse in a position for easy access so it will take you 10 seconds to take it out./ Not worth not doing for a silly MOT fail.

Stand down folks I have sorted it. I have been on to the government about this and have been told that it is a new law to protect us all. Its that all TOSSERS should use all 4 front lights to warn others of their approach !

General / Re: Need to vent re fog lights
« on: 31 January 2012, 05:37:30 pm »
There needs to be some sort of a news flash broadcast just befor the only way is essex to remind these **** of the law.
I'm sure you never break any law then?  :rollin

Same goes for cars with dipped beam bulbs blown, some with dip and side on same side not working, more dangerous than the odd front fog light being on. The rear fogs are more of a pain in damp weather tbh.

Then mobile phone usage...... grrrrrrrrrrrr and so it goes on.
So you do have your fogs on then and watch the onlyway is essex too ------is that what you are telling us all

I will look forward to it, and a social ride is a social ride so no worries about speed I m not the fastest. Let me know when you have a date free and i m sure others would join in. A breakfast followed by an Ice-cream at the sea side sounds a good day out to me. What do others in the area think?

Sounds good but I ant going if there is any rain or threat  their of

The A607 AND A6O6 are both good roads but the best is the B6047 from Market Harborough to Melton Mowbray, its one of my favourites anywhere. Ride safe, Su.
I agree I too am in Leicester and love the Mkt Harborough to Melton run and then if I feel like it - carry on to Grantham - turn around at the roundabout just befor the town and a1 (think there is some pub on the corner) .

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Cagers using fog lights, FFS they don't make your car look good, they dazzle me, especially when it's dark and wet, plus they just make you look like a C8NT!!!!  Double plus, it's ILLEGAL!  TURN THEM OFF!  :grumble

If I didn't have a Fazer I'd dazzle you back with my main beam!  :\

IMO car manufacturers should be forced to make one switch for fog lights, one that turns on the front and rear at the same time, this might make people less likely to turn on just their fronts, or, reverse the switch as it is on most cars at the moment, you turn on the rear ones before you are able to turn on the fronts.

It's really starting to p1ss me off on my daily commute!
Oh my god thank you I thought that it was just me that that thought this way I agree with you 100%
The highway code states they should only be used when visability is bellow (can not recall ) meters. And it is also a question that pops up in the driving theory test.
There needs to be some sort of a news flash broadcast just befor the only way is essex to remind these **** of the law.
And dont get me started on the EU ruling that all new cars have to have running lights -stupid- stupid. Befor this stupid (again ) rule when you were driving along in your car in the day if you saw a light you knew that it was a bike or a volvo and you could easily see it. Now my lights on in the day have been lost amist the sea of daylight running lights.
Is this why the EU are now pushing for us bikers to wear day glow inorder to compete with these running lights
Oh and by the way when you fit after market led strips on your corsa it dosent look good it looks sh1t especially when the are not even put on straight
