Not embarrassing at all fella. There's a few "DOH" threads on here like riding off without your helmet etc. It's called learning. :thumbup

Car indicators that are on the inside of the headlights as opposed to the outside. Always seemed a bit odd to me especially at night

Or the ones that are a ring around a brake light which can often be bloody hard to see if someone's braking and going to turn... :(
Exactly - how unbelievably stupid are these designers, think about it you moron designers - when you are braking you are very likely to also be indicating too (unless you are in a BMW or Audi )

Now this winds me up no end. You have as much chance of seeing the ring indicators on VW's as VNA had with the smoked rear lights. Add to that the now "stylish" tiny front indicators buried in the corner of the front LED running lights and you certainly need your wits about you - nearly caught out a few times now.

Style over safety - When the feck was this a priority ?

I know what you mean about the wrap but it's supposed to keep the motor running cooler.
My understanding of its use is to improve the exhaust gas flow by keeping the gas inside hot.Or is that the same thing - quicker gas out = cooler engine ?

For those of us darn sarf, here's a translation :

No currant bun and I decided to go up the frog and toad but it was coming down cats and dogs. My daisy roots leaked and my plates of meat got soaking wet. Next day when I came down the apples and pears, my daisies seemed bigger. When I had a butchers at them I'd left the insole out. I couldn't believe my mincies. Would you Adam and Eve it.

Hope that helps.

Nope, still typing as you speak  :lol :lol

There is far more hidden behind the climate hoax if you only remove yourself from your own confirmation bias.

Aye, right, climatologists right across the globe are all engaged in a hoax.  Mmmm.

Meanwhile, VNA got caught in a flash flood on Thursday.  Got home and poured the water oot o ma boots.  Took the car to work on Friday cos everything was soaking.

Whet oot fae a spin today down through the borders.  Coming back towards Glasgow on the way hame, another bleedin flash flood.  Got home and poured the water oot o ma boots again.

Ah wis thinking today that my boots felt a wee bit mare spacious than usual.  Then I noticed the insoles still sitting in the conservatory when I got back.  Doh!

What gets my goat is people who type how they speak - utter bollocks. Never met anyone who does this.

I think you meant to say....

"Aye, reit, climatologists reit athwart th' globe ur aw engaged in a hoax. mmmm. meanwhile, vna got caught in a flash fluid oan fuirsday. got haem an' poored th' water it o ma bitts. took th' motur tae wark oan friday cos everythin' was soakin'. whit it fae a spin the-day doon ben th' borders. comin' back towards Glasgee oan th' way ham, anither bleedin flash fluid. got haem an' poored th' water it o ma bitts again. ah wis thinkin' the-day 'at mah bitts felt a wee bit maur spacioos than usual. Just a tail of woe that I encountered on a mates Triumph Tiger last month.
Had an MOT, & riding home lost lights horn everything, but kept running.

I checked through the system & found it must be ignition switch. Removed screen, top faring, headlights,+++
So after removing switch, out of interest I stripped the wires back. (nothing to loose) wires were apprx 14" long, as went into frt faring to junction box.

Two broken wires inside the sheathing, but touched as you turned the bars, so MOT worked at that particular time.
I repaired the wires, re-soldered, refitted. All good.

Please - it's actually against Forum rules to declare faults on any Tiger  :lol :lol

Cough ----- and don't forget Mrs VNA also has a car  ;) .

Firstly, Mrs VNA does not have a car.

Secondly, how am I to get to my carbon neutral place of work?  It’s is relatively remote, there is no works bus and no public transport.

Thirdly, I need to get about, public transport is poor round here.  There is are currently no real practicable viable alternatives to my current modes of transport.

Fourthly, do you think that any personal changes that I make, or you for that matter, will have any impact on global temperatures?

There has to be collective change.  It has to be global change.

Though at the end of the day, the new energy market is without any doubt is going to be about both efficiency and carbon neutral energy sources alongside solutions to absorb CO2.

The winners economically in this new world are going to be those who grasp the nettle and find the solutions.

The only way I found of getting those cheesey screwes out was to using a left hand drill bit and reverse on the drill. As Darssi says plenty of good covers on ebay for £25 and less

Damn good point  :thumbup

General / Re: Pipercross filters
« on: 17 July 2019, 10:46:30 pm »
I just bought the pipercross because it was washable.  I wouldn’t think a change of filter in a standard air box would result in much of a change in air flow, if any at all.

I did e-mail pipercross.  They asked me some questions like how did I clean it etc.
They said “This is very unusual!”
They asked me where I bought it.  I told them I bought it from their online shop and quoted the order number, month and year – I no longer have the receipt.

I’ve not heard back since.  So I didn’t think I’m getting a replacement and I can’t be bothered perusing it any further.
So yeah, Hiflo paper filters for me.  And if I am ever tempted by a fancy filter in the future I’d go with K&N.  I’ve had them before and had no issues.

To  be honest for me it comes down to personal time - for me it's priceless.

Will I notice a potential 2-3 bhp gain = NOPE !
Will I be satisfied that my bike is serviced the right way having done it myself - YEP!
Will I notice the cost difference vs labour time........Very subjective to each individual's spare time.

For me, replace & throw away - 2-3bhp is gained or lost(if it really counts) on rider ability and my time is more precious than a few quid.

As always, just my 2p.

Personally I just roll the bike forward about a foot whilst simultaneously selecting 1st......reduces the "clunk" by a significant amount.

« on: 09 July 2019, 11:34:20 pm »

However the ones that just flash if you're over the limit often seem to be set deliberately low, eg there's one on the A32 which has flashed to warn me that I am "over" the 30mph limt when my speedo has been showing 30mph and Sat Nav has been reading about 28mph...
Is it just me that shouts at those type ---- "i'M GOING FOCING 30" :lmao2

You'll be pleased to hear that my mum (74yrs) does the same....drives her mad bless her  :lol
