Brake Hoses - A Question
« on: 29 May 2014, 08:41:18 pm »
Hi Al

Can anyone tell me the difference between the standard OEM front brake hoses and 'Full Length Race' ones? I have ordered the latter - they are £30 quid cheaper - but have no idea how they differ from standard.

Perhaps I should have found out before buying  :rolleyes

OEM are one hose from master cylinder to splitter then two hoses to callipers. 3 hoses in total.
Race setup is two hoses from master cylinder straight to the callipers. 2 Hoses in total thus cheaper than OEM

Simples  :D

Race hoses use seperate lines from the master cylinder so if one gets damaged and leaks fluid you still have one working caliper.

Think that might be wrong

I have the two line system which has done away with the cross bar section under the fairing, its quite simple rearlly as all it is - is a double banjo bolt at the master cylinder, so although it is two lines they are connected at the cylinder so wont help if one is damaged
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

Agree with fazersharp. You would only get the one-working-caliper, if the lines were fitted with non-return valves, which obviously they can't be! So if one line is damaged, all the pressure will be released through the damaged point. No brakes is no brakes.

It's a liquid so it's not compressible so it would work!

It's more gas than liquid. It also looks like piss, tastes like piss... Mind you I've stopped pretty fucking quickly when I've needed a piss, so maybe it would work...
