Cheers fellas, appreciate the feedback ;-) Insurance wasn't fussed. I've only third party and no theft cover so I think they only care about performance mods.
Mechanic didn't say anything at the MOT other than the seat suits it well. I've changed my mind about the scrambler look. Will stick with road tires. The exhaust wrap makes the bike look better (esp when the wrap was new) but it's not that functional. In the wet there's plenty of steam at the lights. Plus when I changed oil filter I split a shitload of oil on the wraps. Smoked for around 2 weeks!

Cool, thanks. So it seems the insurance company will notify DVLA that it was a Cat N. On DVLA website it states there's a £1000 fine for not notifying them which got me worried.

My bike was classed as a Cat N write off due to bent front forks. I've searched the DVLA website and I'm a bit confused as it states to notify them when the bike is sold to the insurance company. I didn't sell it to them, I've kept the salvage. I'm getting the forks repaired, so any advice on next steps with the DVLA is appreciated.

Thanks Drezza I would be very interested in your forks.
I’ll find out this week from insurance who’s at fault with the accident. If I’m at fault or if it’s 50/50 I’ll get back in touch for the forks.
I think the frames ok but will have the whole bike looked over by a pro if I’m repairing it.

I was riding past stationary traffic and a van pulled out from a side street. I hit the side of it, bent the forks back about four inches and sent me flying.
Anyway I need some new front forks. Second hand on eBay the forks alone are selling for around £300. I could buy a whole bike not running for £500.
Any other ideas on where to source?

Must be a strict MOT garage if they were to fail you for that.

Change the spark plugs for some iridium ones. I did recently and the difference was very noticeable.

I had to drive it a good mile with no coolant to get it somewhere safe to park so hopefully I haven't cooked the head gasket as well. The fan was coming on for most the journey

Thanks, yeah I didn't think so too. If it was running hotter/ too hot it should just boil out the overflow. I agree , prob just a stone and a coincidence.

Hello all,
I changed my spark plugs for some CR8EIX iridium plugs and the bike seemed a lot quicker, great improvement.
However after 20 miles the radiator developed a hole and sprayed coolant everywhere. I'm waiting on a replacement radiator but do you think it could be linked to the change of plugs?

Looks like some good work there! To be honest though I don't like the clip on's. Here's a pic of my bike with the taillight in the frame. It looks good when complete and you'll love it.

Thanks but I'm not talking about the kosos. I'm talking about the really cheap £5 ones on ebay. The one I have at the moment isn't working anywhere near correctly and I'm wondering if perhaps its faulty. I've bought another one and will see if the new one is any better.

I've fitted a cheap chinese one and its all over the place.
It's not the speedo disconnect causing the issue as the revs bounce around well before 8k revs.
Has anyone successfully fitted a cheap tacho?

Also I recommend changing the speedo to mechanical. Check out my build for a link to a tutorial.

Thanks but I mean the tyre specs.
I just picked up a tkc 80 Rear tyre 150/70/17 for £11.50 with half tread.
Very curious what width and height your front tyre is??

That’s mint!! Love it!!
I’m wondering the same, how’s performance with the pod filters??
Lots of people say it’s a no no.
Can you send me the tyre specs? Amazed that front tyre fits under the guard!
Cheers (I’m from melb but living in uk, don’t let that put u off haha)

There is a brilliant guide to install the mechanical speedo. The Thundercat speedo drive is a direct fit. I bought the Thundercat speedo drive for £5 and sold my original electric speedo drive for £40 on eBay. http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php?topic=20503.0Yes the taillight is built into the rear frame and it was a custom job, not bought pre-made on eBay. The welder is based in West Drayton, near Heathrow. He is the best, he built the rear frame on my prior XJ600 which unfortionately was stolen. Don't let the strange name put you off, he is good and very reasonably priced. https://www.facebook.com/LowBrainEng/Pavel - 07918 135969

Thanks for the comments. Next plans are to wrap the exhausts, cut down the front mud guard (or remove completely) and maybe change the tyres. I was originally going to install a smaller seat however it's the only mode of transport for me and the missus so need enough room for her. The pillion pegs were actually cut and shifted for the build. I also changed the speedo drive to mechanical and put a smaller speedo and tacho on. Can't get the tacho to work properly thou. It's not the fault codes, it just seems to have a mind of its own. Some progress pics...

Just got my bike back from having the rear end rebuilt. I'm yet to paint it, will get that sorted this weekend.
Tempted to put some Continental TCK80's and go the scrambler look. Only pic I have at the moment, will take more hopefully tomorrow.

Well done fellas! The pass switch had shifted on the bars and was being pushed in by the clutch leaver. Fixed now

Did a bit of a streetfighter project and removed front fairing, changed headlights, indicators and handlebars.
Now I have a problem that when the clutch is pulled in the headlight comes on. Release clutch and headlight goes off.
I believe it might be a grounding issue but I'm not sure how to fix it. At the moment I just leave low beam on all the time.
Any ideas?

Uggh! I had the cables the wrong way around on the starter solinoid!
Thanks for the help though.

Thanks Tommy but my lights, etc were working before I dropped the starter relay terminal onto the battery. Not afterwards thou.
As for the starting problem that occured first it could be a connector issue. It's very strange. Will check all the connectors once I get power back working.
