There should be laws about that the same as there are about cruelty to animals
The previous owner treated the bike as a toy, it was in a bad way when I bought it at 26,000 miles.
It had clearly been used, abused and dropped.
I don't know what maintenance can be done to prolong the cam chain actually over what you have already been doing maintenance wise. Other people on here have higher mileage fazers without any camchain issues wonder if it was a previous owner that have caused its demiseEpic faff. So it looks like you were right all along in your suspicions and were not imagining things.
Cost aside, they did say my pistons, valves, etc, all looked good, so my regular oil changes paid off, and the fact my cam chain has not faltered for 64K is also a sign of reasonable maintenance.
My bad, I overlooked this part of the engine, and I'm paying the price, but lesson learned.
"I was camping at Donny for WSB, and was amazed at the lack of security. Was never challenged for the camp site wrist band or track entry tickets. "There is no way I would leave valuables in a nylon safe
Last time i camped at Donnington quite a few years ago a lot of people got their tents raided during the night and had wallets, bike keys and loads of other stuff stolen. It's pretty disgsting that Donningtton doesn't care enough to stop it happening again!
I was camping at Donny for WSB, and was amazed at the lack of security. Was never challenged for the camp site wrist band or track entry tickets. They did the same tannoy announcement at Brands as they did at Donny, regarding texting some number if any suspicious activity is noticed. I figured that the biking fraternity would not sit back and watch any just stop oil shenanigans, like the tennis and snooker, and would be quite capable of protecting our own event. This is right. They do seem to pick their targets carefully. They got a taste of their own medicine when someone realeased helium balloons with rape alarms to float up to the ceiling of their nice vegan banqueting Hall meal celebrating their recent campaigns.
Here the license plate is exclusive to the vehicle. If we buy or sell a vehicle the plate comes or goes with it. The Oldtimer plate can be requested if the vehicle is in good and original condition, and goes through a special "vintage MOT". Then it gets the new plate, the tax will be lower, the MOT is once in every 5 years. The value of the vehicle is higher on the market. It is not a junkyard refugee anymore, the people seems to appreciate it usually. You know, it's not an old junk on the road anymore, instead a valuable museum piece, haha... or something along these lines...I see, I like the idea of a special "vintage" MOT then every 5 years. I guess the vintage mot is to first check that it is kept in mint condition and its not just old and knackered before they let you go to every 5 years. And a mint collectors piece is likly to be ridden less so you get cheaper tax. So where in the world are you.
Yes all fair points I guess but I will be 82 by then so unlikely to still be riding!Well I like to think I will still be riding then.
Its on your registration documents -- V5 it will state first registered. Or look at the date on your receipt from when you brought itMy insurance through Ageas is called "Future Classic Vintage" but maybe we have to go another 10 years to match the RD. Perhaps to be a classic part of it is how rare they are ?
My bike is May 1998 we had a thing a few years ago to find the oldest fazer and if \I remember right it was mine - by a few days. I think the bike in the UK was released in May ?. Although I brought it 3 years later.
how does one find out when their bike was made/registered? ive a 98 too
You are reading things that are not there, how can I be scare mongering when I have not given an exact reason as to why I do not use it.I will not put e10 in my 25 year old bike i do not care if I am told it is safe and effective
Any future issues ‐ how can I prove it was the e10 and who is going to compensate me. I will trust my instincts again on this me thinks
More internet scare mongering bit like if you travel at over 20mph the air will be sucked out of your lungs, which was once banded about by scare mongers
Yesterday I pulled out my XJR1300 and my X10 both are filled with E10, both haven't been run since Oct last year, not even started, both started first prod. I see bikes week in week out that are run on E10 and have done so since it was introduced into the UK, I've yet to see any having issues with anything. Good friends of mine also in the trade in France, Belgium, Germany and Italy where E10 petrol has been used for something like 10 years and is the only type available, haven't reported any issues either. The issue is not engine/performance related in any case, it's fuel system seals and hoses. Basically most vehicles before the mid 80's/early 90's didn't have seals/hoses that can work with more than 5% ethanol without starting to degrade.
Most Jap manufactures can use E10 fuel from early 90's on nearly all models, the exception is Kawasaki who have problems with most of their range pre mid 20's and these must be run on E5 or have their fuel systems up graded. Lord knows why they didn't follow the others.
All Yams since 1990 can use E10, use it or don't, just stop scare mongering.
I frequently leave my bike for 2 -8 weeks between rides. And mostly use the 99oct it in my 16 plate car, and I am sure I get more mpg than when I use e10I will not put e10 in my 25 year old bike i do not care if I am told it is safe and effectiveI use it in all my bikes without issue, but would not be leaving them idle for more than a month without using an additive.
Any future issues ‐ how can I prove it was the e10 and who is going to compensate me. I will trust my instincts again on this me thinks
I was nervous at first but had no choice at the start as I needed fuel and there was nothing else available.
The 600 and 1000 are still on their first day O Rings in the carbs
