In the Cambridge area. Not sure how much it's worth, about £400-500 I think. I'm sure people will let me know if I'm grossly under or over estimating that.

For Sale & Wanted / For Sale: Black 1999 FZS600
« on: 09 March 2015, 10:08:00 pm »
An old bike that's been sitting in the garage with no MOT for 4 or 5 years but have a new bike so would like to get rid of this one.

Needs an engine swap as current engine doesn't run (had a cracked barrel). Fairings are a bit cracked. Front left fork is currently off the bike as the seal was leaking, but the fork jammed and I never got around to doing it.

Not wanting to break, just looking to sell as a whole for someone else to break and make a profit or for a project for someone.

Just gauging interest really.

FZS600 Fazer / Damper Rod Bolt Advice
« on: 26 August 2014, 08:33:33 pm »
Trying to replace my fork seals, took the dust seal off and it's all rusted to fuck, so i'll need to get a new retaining clip too. Only issue I'm having is removing that sodding bolt at the bottom of the fork, some people say use a quick sharp force, others say push down on the fork to apply the most tension then try it but I've had no luck. I don't have an impact gun, any advice? Anyone tried a damper rod holder or sharp broom technique?

Damn, I'm just south of Cambridge, if my car hadn't broken down recently I'd totally come pick it up. You could always sell it for parts if you have no luck

Of course, but as the OEM seals are known to fail I was curious if anyone had found seals that actually hold up better

How heavy is the FZS600 engine? Feasible to swap out by one person?

Preferably black (as I have spare parts for a black Fazer). Not too fussed about cosmetics as I can swap bits I have out but it needs to be mechanically sound, gears, engine, forks. I have a rebuilt rear brake so doesn't matter if it's seized as I can swap that out too, currently scouting ebay but there's a lot of idiots out there trying to rip people off.

Ah ok, couple more questions... fork seals alright? how many previous owners?

Nice bike. Engine, gears, speedo and brakes all good? Also... what is the stated colour of the bike on the V5? Still gold?

Not sure you'll get your asking price because of the unfortunate incident with the roof tiles. How is the ignition barrel?

Should have checked back here before going ahead really, used a .13 guitar string, worked a treat although it's probably not ideal that it was metal but hey ho, the bike runs on all 4 cylinders now, woo! She's purring like a...well....drunk hobo but still she idles!

A couple of my pilot jets are gummed up, whats the best way to clean them? Been spraying carb cleaner through them to no avail, and don't have access to a sonicator. Would a very thin wire damage them? (no idea where i'd get one though, thing guitar string possibly?)
