Bollocks! Not again.
« on: 14 May 2015, 05:25:55 pm »

Whoops, I did it again.

Riding back from Saffron Walden to Dagenham, been pissing down the whole time, just heading out of Abridge towards Hainault, round a couple of narrow bends as you go up the hill immediately before the 40 mph section. Back end just started to go, then flipped from side to side, transferred to front, had a bit of a tank slapper on the go, then just lost it and down I went and slid off into the mud beside the road. :(

At least some friendly folk stopped to help me pick it up, clean most of the mud off it, collect the pieces and bungie things down enough to nurse it home.

TBF this fairing has probably lasted longest out of the three I've had...
However, got smashed headlight, bust mirror, bust infil, really bent fairing bracket, one of the rad hoses is leaking, nasty scratches/dents to tank, possibly bent bars and forks don't feel quite lined up any more.  Crash bar did it's job, engine looks untouched. Could be more, but it's still pissing down outside and I'm too pissed off to look at it further. Need tott up repairs and decide if it's worth repairing or just trade in.

So not looking likely I'll join you on the LOFO ride this Sunday. :(

Oh BTW, I'm fine, just a bump to hip (but had Rukka armour there) and slight ache in hand.

Sorry to hear that, but glad you're OK.
Hope you can get it back on the road... it looks too good to be condemned.

The things people do to get out of buying the tea on a LOFO ride out!  :b

Gutted for you, I remember dropping my first Fazer and smashing up the front, heartbreaking  :'(

Sorry to hear it, glad to hear you're ok though - you must bounce better than I do!

Hopefully the bike will be economically fixable - if not, enough of it still looks sound enough that you should be able to recoup something from it. But I know them feels  :'(

Somehow I don't think we can straighten that fairing up like we did last time :P

Sorry to hear about the incident, but glad you made it out in one piece relatively unscathed

It's likely to be the headlight cluster that''ll be the deciding factor, at £300 new it's not going to be a cheap fix.
Still got a spare fibreglass fairing in loft, that'll do for time being, can think about colour matching later...
Still got a spare fairing bracket in loft too, the one that bent last time that is mostly bent back straight-ish, though does align lights a bit high. Again that'll do for time being. Though still need to have a proper look over in dry daylight, had to leave house super early today to brave the long tube journey to work...

So really, that just leaves mirror, rad hose (at quick glance just appears to be one small one) and address front wheel/fork alignment. Hopefully just a case of loosening off and re-setting again. The rest will just have to remain as battle scars...

What's majorly wrong with the light cluster? I have one kicking about as the outer casing has been mullered from my crash (plus I used parts of it to plastic weld another one), but the internals are sound as far as I remember

Noggy, one pic that made me laugh was of the hose you sent to someone the other year, the packaging was amazing..... it was the hose with a label stuck on it....  :lol

Noggy: It's hose 21 in this parts diagram:
https://www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co.uk/genuineparts/9797/7/yamaha%20fzs600%20fazer/radiator.%20hose?uid=0

Light cluster is mullered, there's just nothing left where the side light was... Can just about save the bulb holder though, if I can remove the remains of the bulb from it.

Noggy: I don't think it is, I'm afraid. :( Piece I need is quite long really. No worries, many thanks for a having a root around anyway. I guess £20 from Fowlers ain't too bad.

Yep, aware new fairing is £185 from Yamaha, already bought two previously...

ah no worries, I couldn't quite get all the various boxes etc in the shed coz its a mess......I might still have it...maybe get a better look tomorrow.....did you lose it completely in the mayhem or do you have a scuffed version of it you can put a pic up of, it isn't the easiest to make out on the diagram.
