Well it worked good for about 5mins then got stuck at 5k again , if I run the revs right up to 11 or 12 it will kick back in again then when I drop the revs again it gets stuck , hopefully don't need a new tps
I'll check the connection and wiring for breaks :/
Doesn't effect the running at all mind
Apart from the rev counter needle playing up the main signs of a dodgy TPS can be subtle. They tend to gradually break down, rather than just stop working. One of mine could be adjusted to the 5000rpm position but if i checked it a few days later it would be sitting at the 10,000rpm position for example.
But me checking it would have been due to some sort of running issue. I know exactly when my bike misses a beat and the main symptom is rough running under 3000rpm, normally when riding slowly or in traffic. You need to use the clutch a lot more and find yourself giving the bike more throttle to control things. I've done it myself so bear in mind you may think things are okay, until you swap it out then you suddenly notice the difference when it all runs smoothly. Not so noticeable at higher revs, but again, it's just not quite right.
This all depends at what stage it may be breaking down as well, so it can creep up on you gradually. If it's totally fooked the bike will run horribly.
