Does any of you have any idea's weather it would be better to just get the dogbone replaced which apparently means stripping and splitting the engine
Thundercat engine won't fit for a host of reasons, mainly because it has downdraft carbs (airbox is above the engine, not behind it as per the Fazer 600). Many internals are similar to the Fazer but the engine casings are different to accommodate the different Deltabox / Steel cradle frames.
Got to disagree with you here, Lumpy.Gnasher's posts #4 and #8 on this thread:http://fazerowners.yuku.com/reply/266916/Differences--performance-power-delivery--Thundercat--Fazer#reply-266916Cylinder head would have to be swapped at the very least, unless that's what you mean by 'casings'. No room for ramair either so some of the extra top-end performance from the T'Cat would be lost. Kinda pointless.Get a campaign going with TTS to re-import their 660cc big-bore pistons and you'd get the T'cats extra 6 or 7 hp :-D
I've decided to just stick with the 600 lump But just one more question does any one roughly know the amount of hours labour that's involved with changing the engine so i can try and work out a rough price of what it'll cost to swap them over.Cheers
