Hi everyone,

Thanks for letting me join the forum.

I`ve been searching through the forum but i couldent find a clear answer to my issue,so i decided to start a new thread.

I have a FZS 1000 from 2001 buildning a caferacer and ive installed a cheap chinese/amazon after market gauge.

The bike runs fine as far as i know ! I added a slip-on so the sound is different.

But the problems i have is that i cant get the RPM and Speedometer to work, some signal issue i think.

I have it wired up on the original speedo wires and set to 1 magnet and 1950mm but the km/H just goes from zero to 150 real Quick and the RPM Yellow/black wire dont work aswell.

I have some leftover wires from the original gauge probably oil, temp and so on, do i have to Connect them ore just isolate ?

Has anybody else fitted a new aftermarket and can help, ore give some advise.
And if there is a good nice round that works i can buy a new one.

Thanks in advance

Is there a list anywhere of shocks and forks from other bikes that fit fazers?
In the 20 odd years I've had the bike, I've never done this. I had a quick look at the bike - too cold to give it more than a cursory look - I couldn't detect any movement.
Not wishing to fix something that's not broken I thought I'd ask the group.
Is this part of your normal maintenance and should you be able to detect any movement?

I've got a Datatool gear indicator fitted to my 2004 Fazer 1000 but it's becoming unreliable (the indicator, not the bike). I was thinking of replacing it for a new one but then it occurred to me that all I actually need is a light that illuminates when I'm in 6th (to prevent me from trying to change up into a non-existent 7th gear). I don't need to know which gear I'm in otherwise.

I've read about the inner workings of the Multigauge designed by Christian Vieth (Schlumpf) on his info-packed website. Christian has very helpfully shared the ratios of pulse frequencies from the sensors for engine rpm and for speed for each gear - I'm only interested in that for 6th - and as far as I understand, all that would be required would be the means to calculate the ratio in real time, compare it with one stored in a register, and then illuminate an LED or activate a relay when the current ratio equals that pre-stored for 6th gear.

Has anyone done this already? If not, does anyone here have the necessary knowledge?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
