When the Nitron mono-shock for the FZ1 Fazer arrived at our shop, I was so intrigued that I couldn't just mount it. I immediately started tearing down the brand-new unit to compare it with the OEM version—and discovered that the internal design is absolutely insane! The OEM setup on these 5-valve 4-cylinders is notorious for its unforgivable weaknesses: an embarrassing lack of material rigidity and a damping curve that falls completely flat under load.
But this Nitron unit? The millimeter-level precision of the internal valving and shim stack is practically bulletproof, obliterating the typical fade you see during aggressive riding. I’ve spent countless late nights wrenching on suspension setups to fight the terror of thermal drift, where fluid viscosity breaks down and ruins your rebound. Nitron engineered this billet aluminum masterpiece with a massive remote reservoir to manage heat soak perfectly.
Dialing in the sag and high-speed compression transformed the Fazer's heavy rear end into a precision scalpel. The fluid dynamics here keep the shock stroke buttery smooth even when pushed to absolute thermal limits.
I know some of you are running similar high-end suspension architectures on your heavy sport-tourers. So I have to ask the hardcore tuners here: when you’re pushing big miles and the exhaust temperature starts creeping into the aluminum linkages, how do you guys perfectly dial in the settings for this heat soak issue?

Wondering if I can get some advice with a fuelling issue I’ve had for a little while now.

The bike runs well gets good spark etc but after running for a little while the bike starts bogging before cutting off completely and not starting for another little while. During this I’ve checked the height of fuel in the float bowl and it seems to drain almost completely and doesn’t refill so I thought it would be stuck float valves but after taking the carbs off and looking all seems good. The pump primes as normal and fuel can get through the system to the carbs but the float bowls just don’t fill up. The pump primes okay, the tank breather is ok, it’s had a new filter since when I first had a fuelling issue I replaced it and the fuel pump which worked for a little while. I also switched out the side stand switch and relay which when tested were faulty but the issue still seems to be there.

I’m thinking maybe I didn’t properly check the tubes that join the carbs together and there’s a blockage there before the float valves but does anyone have any advice, thoughts or ideas on where I should look next.

Thanks

I have a notchy headstock and need to replace the bearings.
Has anyone had any good feedback from the Pyramid ones for sale on the bay?
I'm not too worried about the bearing themselves, but more whether the seals are the same design as Yamaha OEM.
Thanks in advance

So I have noticed a flaw in the way the forum software handles replies. The reply button is quoting the post of pm of the person your replying too, instead of simply replying.

So until I find a fix for this annoyance/bug, I am requesting everyone to -

please delete the quote entirely from your reply before typing.

or if want some part of the previous post, please edit the quote so it contains only the bare bones of the previous message.
This will alleviate the "green wall of quote" SPAM I am seeing in most threads at the moment.

Hi I was experiencing noise from front wheel, and i couldn’t figure out the problem. Suspected the bearings but mechanic confirmed that nothing is wrong and it simply was resonance from fairings or mudguard. Took mudguard off and the noise is gone. Mudguard back on, noise when going 50 kmh+.
I recently read this post, https://foc-u.co.uk/mybb/showthread.php?...light=wind
But is a new tire the right solution? It's resonance, so there should be an easier solution? I tried putting some rubber rings between the fender and the forks but it doesnt help. I have thought about buying a fender extender but i dont know if it will help, and i feel like there is a cheaper solutions. All comments appreciated, thanks!

Hi All, thinking of moving on from the FZS600 to an FZ8. Chap on Facebook is selling a 2012 one for £2700 and he's in my home town of Sittingbourne. FZ8SA

38000 miles.
comes with all keys inc red one and service history.
Oxford heated grips and R and G Tail tidy. MOT 14/07/26
seems to have a pipeworx exhaust

Not seen the reg number yet so not able to check MOT history.

What do you guys think? fair price? What am I looking out for if I go see it?

Only downside, it's slow blue (I've only every had red bikes before) Hoping the blue 800 will be the equivalent of a red 600 in terms of power ha ha
