Yesterday I thoroughly cleaned the bike after a very wet weekend with my buddies. When I finished removing dirt from behind the cylinders, I saw this loose hose on the left side of the engine block. In the photo, it is between the clutch cable and the long hose going down (I guess it is the fuel tank overflow). Can someone tell me where I need to connect this shorter loose hose? It comes from somewhere between carburetors 3 and 4.

I do know that there is an opening on the back (not visible) of the front sprocket cover where the loose hose could fit in. A carburetor overflow perhaps?
Maybe someone could take a close-up photo showing how this hose should be installed. Thanks in advance.

UPDATE:
For the moment I led the hose opening into the gap on the backside of the sprocket cover. The second picture shows on the right the clutch cable. The position of the rubber hose in the gap is just under the hex bolt.

Hello everyone here, I am Hans (72) and I live in the Netherlands. No April Fool's joke, but on April 1st I bought my 2000 FZS600 Fazer in beautiful condition (will post a photo later). I am actually the 3rd owner.

It is my 20th motorcycle, honestly. In 1999 I also bought a brand new black FZS600. But well, after a while I want to try something different again. I really am a Yamaha fan and have owned FJR1300 models 4 times, among others models. Now a Fazer again. Probably my last motorcycle, though... The FZS600 is a nice little machine, enough power, handles well and, above all, is quite lightweight. I do a lot of the maintenance myself. I only leave checking and adjusting valve clearance and carburation tuning to the expert.
I just got back from a weekend away with friends, about 25 people. Despite the rain and no ABS, the engine ran like a sewing machine.

I will ask a question further down; it doesn't seem that complicated to me, but so far I haven't been able to find an answer.

Additionally, I hope to find enough other info.

Hello,
So after much head scratching wondering where my fuel was leaking from, I located a tiny hole (2-3mm) in the bottom of my year 2000 Fazer. In the area where its close to the bike frame.
Rather than buying a 2nd hand tank, is it possible to get a weld on it to seal the hole?
While I'm here, any advice on how to get the crap and gritty rust out of the tank?

Hi all,

absolutely gutted to have to do this but I need to sell "the old girl" due to buying a house. Thought I would see if I could find her a good home on here before trying ebay/FB market place. I maybe biased but the old girl is also in the best colour

I have owned her since 2002 (yes 24 years, my first and only bike), has always been kept in a garage, and only been out on "nice days" (used to ride to work years ago so has been in the rain a few times on the way home or the odd shower when out and about when the weather changed). Never been in an accident or crashed, although I am ashamed to admit I did leave the disc lock on once and fell over on my side (scratched the belly pan and broke the little metal bar under the foot peg...the bit that lets you know you have lent over too far).

The good: Has done approximately 19k miles (the battery is completely dead so I can't check the actuall mileage, won't charge) and as you can see from the photos is generally in good condition (a lot better than me that is for sure ). She has HEL braided brake lines, Venom race can (sounds really deep and fruity, unmarked so will pass an MOT), K&N filter (helps the fuelling as they run a bit rich as standard), double bubble tinted screen, belly pan and a scott oiler. I also have the factory end can (original to the bike) and screen, both in great condition.
The headlight (and reflectors) are also in really good condition (needs a clean out as there is a thin layer of really fine dust inside). The bike as also had ACF50 and XCP applied.

Up until 4 years ago she has only played up twice, one was due to a spark plug that failed (wouldn't rev past 6k) and the other the fork seals leaked after not being ridden much over the winter/rubbish weather when I took her for an MOT.

The bad: About 4 years ago when I went to start it in the winter the carbs were leaking fuel and it wouldn't run properly. I did buy a refurb seal kit off e-bay (they sell alot of bike carb kits) and had the carbs ultrasonically cleaned and me and my dad (always worked on cars and bikes since he was a teenager) swapped the o-rings (we didn't split the carbs apart from each other, kept them in the bank of 4). When I re-fitted the carbs and tried to start her up the carbs were still leaking fuel. Has been in the garage ever since then.

The fuel tank bolt thread (near head stock) will also need re-tapping as the screw thread is worn and will require a new bolt (easy job).

So she needs the carbs looking at (wondering if the bowl seals were no good as they did look a bit skinny), or the carbs need splitting totally apart and swapping all the o-rings. Will def need a new battery, a bloody good service (would be worth stripping the callipers etc) and although the tyres havn't done that many miles they are old so I would replace those as well.
The rubber fuel line from the tank to the fuel filter is quite hard as well. A chain and sprocket kit would be good to do as it has only been replaced once (at a Yamaha dealers) many years ago, the chain last forever due to the scottoiler. The chain has gone a bit rusty after been laid up.

She is a good honest bike but needs some tlc to bring her back to life. Like I say I am absolutely gutted to have to sell her but I am currently tyring to buy a house and with my mortgage and house costs I wouldn't have the money to get her back on the road. I also won't have a garage anymore.

I am open to offers. Would love for her to go to a good home. I am in Norwich and am more than happy if anyone wanted to come over to have a proper look. Also if anyone has any questions fire away. I can also throw in the Optimate charger, disc lock and I am fairly sure I have some of the service bits in the garage (currently clearing that out). I did clean the K&N and fit a new fuel filter when I cleaned out the carbs.

I can only post 4 photos, if anyone can help me to upload the others I can send them to you.
I will also be keeping the number plate as a keeps sake (not the reg, just the plate). I gave her a quick wash this afternoon and have plenty of photos (unsure how many I can post on here).

Hi everyone,

Thanks for letting me join the forum.

I`ve been searching through the forum but i couldent find a clear answer to my issue,so i decided to start a new thread.

I have a FZS 1000 from 2001 buildning a caferacer and ive installed a cheap chinese/amazon after market gauge.

The bike runs fine as far as i know ! I added a slip-on so the sound is different.

But the problems i have is that i cant get the RPM and Speedometer to work, some signal issue i think.

I have it wired up on the original speedo wires and set to 1 magnet and 1950mm but the km/H just goes from zero to 150 real Quick and the RPM Yellow/black wire dont work aswell.

I have some leftover wires from the original gauge probably oil, temp and so on, do i have to Connect them ore just isolate ?

Has anybody else fitted a new aftermarket and can help, ore give some advise.
And if there is a good nice round that works i can buy a new one.

Thanks in advance
