Dealer closures
#1
Popped down to a local dealer first thing Monday morning last to look at a part I'm almost click and collected purchased the previous evening. Pleased I didn't as when I got there, a sign was on the door " No longer trading". So, off I went to another of that companies showrooms less than a mile away to find the staff all hanging around the back door, coffee and cigarettes on the go. One of them blocked my entry and told access was denied. I asked how long for to be told Id be informed. So I returned back to base and kept my money. Good thing too, as I later read they'd gone into administration. This is not the only one I've read of in the last few weeks. I suspect sales have stagnated further. Are the manufacturers making bikes that people want, or are they getting too over sophisticated, like the modern day motor cars?

My local multi-franchise dealer closes next week. They are the only dealer for most of the Jap models for miles having grown over the years.
My nearest Yamaha dealer will now be over an hour away.
Another ex-Fazer rider that is a foccer again

Pidcocks, Long Eaton, Derbyshire. Triumph and BMW dealers. I think they had a third shop too, but cant remember where that is. Two seperate premises, apparently the BMW site has someone interested in it so may trade again at some point

It seems the trend is continuing. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/health/familyh...d656&ei=77

I still has a feeling that the major manufacturers are not making the bikes that previously attracted huge sales, like the Fazer/Bandit etc, reasonably cheap, reasonably well built, fun, and can be easily maintained by the owner

I saw this morning that the Plymouth and Southampton HD dealers have both closed yesterday.

Main dealers of all brands are getting fewer and further between them now. Good news for the ones that remain for the sales and warranty work but less good for the custoemrs that now have to travel 1-2 hours to get to their nearest dealer.

In West Sussex now i think we only have a single (Triumph) dealer where we used to have 2 or 3 per town 40 years ago.
