New Here! - BSR67 - 10-03-25 Hi all, I'm Alex, and collect a 2003 Fazer 1000 tomorrow evening. It's my first Fazer and I've bought it for summer runs between work (North London) where I stay down in the the week, and home (North Yorkshire) at the weekends. I've owned two R1s, a 4XV and 5JJ so am looking forward to that grunty R1 derived motor! I also own a Harley Davidson Fatboy and 2024 BMW GS1250 Adventure. It's a very standard silver model and broadly unmodified. Will post a photo when collected. I'm on the lookout for Givi pannier racks ..... which I understand are hard to come by. Thanks BSR67 RE: New Here! - Grahamm - 10-03-25 Welcome to the Forums! Unfortunately Givi has, as far as I'm aware, stopped making pannier racks for older Fazers (certainly up as far as the FZ6) presumably because it wasn't worthwhile any more ![]() Your best bet is probably to try to find a set from bike breakers unless you're into fabricating them yourself. RE: New Here! - Trebus - 10-03-25 ![]() The racks pop up on eBay from time to time. Hopefully your new machine has had some suspension pennies spent already but if not you might need to look at a shock and / or fork work. Interestingly there is a chap in Ukraine who manufacturers welded sets that take Givi fitments. About £289 shipped so will likely go down that route in time. Feels good to support business over there too. I checked the Givi site and indeed, NLA. They don't even do a tank log ring for the tank bags now but I think the cap is the same as a FZ1 so that kit is available. I pick up this evening so will post first impressions on here. Has any one ever fitted a 4XV ECM? Does it work/enhance performance? Thanks BSR67 (10-03-25, 11:48 AM)Trebus Wrote: Thanks Trebus Hmmm not sure about suspension mods - all looks very standard to me. The current owner has owned it for 8 years and used it for commuting to and from work. Done quite a few miles - 57k. Carbs have been fully rebuild with new o-rings and seals. Fingers crossed. Will post some pictures tomorrow! Thanks BSR67 RE: New Here! - Grahamm - 11-03-25 Quote:Has any one ever fitted a 4XV ECM? Does it work/enhance performance? I'm not sure what that is, but perhaps you'd be better asking in a bike model specific forum on these boards. RE: New Here! - agricola - 11-03-25 I think it means an R1 ECU. Id suspect its not compatable with an FZS1000 at all, might be better advised pursuing the Ivans Jet Kit route if its performance your after RE: New Here! - unfazed - 11-03-25 4xv Ignitor has two connectors which ruse it out, but the later 5jj models and the Fazer ones are Physically the same. The EXUP wiring is the same on both. Check through the wiring diagram carefully and as long as they are going to the same place it should be ok. Would be interesting to see the difference if it works. The tip over switch of the Fazer will probably be redundant as I dont think the R1 has one. Check the fan relay operation as it may be different RE: New Here! - BSR67 - 14-03-25 So, here are a couple of shots of the old girl. Paint flaking on the engine needs addressing and a few minor cosmestic issues, but despite is's 55k miles it has been well maintained and rides extremely well. BSR67 |
