Fazer 1000 high beam issue - Tommy666 - 22-06-24

Hello I have a problem with my Fazer and wonder if anyone can help me out, the lights are permanently on with no switch provided to turn them off , when I start the bike and use either the flasher or high beam switch the rev counter drops briefly to zero and all the warning lights on the dash illuminate for a couple of seconds then normality is returned, however it only performs this unusual trick on first using the flash/dip switch ?‍♂️ I have never noticed this issue until I took it for the MOT and the tester pointed it out to me , I should say the bike passed its test as all lights work normally, a mate has the same bike and has the same problem, hopefully someone will have had this issue and found the solution
Regards Ian

I think there is a multi cable connector to the Speedo housing. That might not be making a good connection. Try giving it a good clean. Also check your earths.

Hello, my mate and me have had every block connector apart and they were all clean as a whistle , however it does seem that when high beam is used there’s a big voltage drop ?‍♂️.
Thank you for your reply ?

There's a short in the positive circuit somewhere, it's probably in the loom as it goes around the headstock or in and around the head light unit. It's could also be a connector. Being clean doesn't mean there's no shorts.  Wink
