Fuel pump? - Trinafzs - 11-08-23 ***UPDATE*** Fuses had blown. Fixed that and engine fired up and ran, but was hunting. Stopped and then fuel has been dumped from carbs to the overflow. Carbs need cleaning again. Had a few problems with the bike after the carbs had been cleaned and engine was running well. This is the current state of play… Switch ignition on, pumps fuel well and stops after a while (as it should). engine starts on the button but pump continue to pump even on tickover and doesn’t stop. If you cut or stall engine, the pump stops. Any ideas on priority to check/ fix? thanks in advance. Re: Fuel pump? - darrsi - 11-08-23 Check for kinks in fuel pipes, and make sure fuel tap under tank is turned on fully. Re: Fuel pump? - darrsi - 11-08-23 Do you know the age of your fuel filter? Maybe that could do with replacing too if you're not sure? Re: Fuel pump? - basher - 14-08-23 yeah i had a similar situation with my bike after the restoration, overflowing from carbs not running but sounding like it wanted to. ended up being fuel tappet off. then check the tank to ensure no debris is in it, inline fuel filter, the little filter in the hose from pump to carbs. carbs could also be overflowing because of float being off or the valve in the bowl is perished so too much fuel is getting in. a fuel issue isnt the end of the world luckily just go over the hoses and carbs to ensure its all clean and in spec, the pump should click around 8 times if not driven in a few days so it builds up pressure. if its constantly ticking its not getting enough pressure to stop the valve which is why its constantly dumping fuel into your carbs and overflowing them. so ensure all the hoses are also on correctly and tightened Re: Fuel pump? - Slippy - 21-09-23 Did you find a fix for this ? Mine does the same it ticks every 1-2 seconds when idling and always ticks when turning on never got to the bottom of it and just live with it |
